[re: "lisa's" comments] the other major point is the de facto stupidity of the "entertainment class." remember, these are people for whom every living act, from brushing their teeth to buying coffee at starbucks to, you know, breathing, precipitates a highly orchestrated media opportunity to shove their views, money, success, and beauty in our faces--YET again. or to get a free goody bag. it's appalling, i tell you. [and who are they kidding? everyone knows it's impossible for them to think for themselves!! they pay people to do that for them, i'm pretty sure!] what's more, where MY chance to have paparazzi take a picture of me on melrose avenue or to go to a film premiere and then influence *everyone*, huh?! it's so unfair.... but then again, when you're famous in america, you are not allowed to express your views through the media, because that is a craven abuse of your "position." this is a *really major* social transgression. people are too afraid you might just go ahead and and set up a coupla neocon think tanks in DC, begin infiltrating the American Enterprises Institute in the mid-1970s, which in turn influences major law schools and selection of judges in key posts, and buy up all the media/communication outlets, and then, with the help of your "friends" [::cough::colin powell's son, micheal, chairman of the FCC::cough] begin consolidating these media markets, thereby brazenly sidestepping the monopoly laws. but what am i saying; that's got nothing to do with anything. the really unforgiveable stuff lies, again, in the abuse of your public position. OK, wait.... so, if you are famous, you should stick to being a shrill, albeit "hip," harpy on "real time" and call it a day. there's only so much you should do, you know. hahahaa... i saw this thing on pbs about the revolutionary war. it was some british production and the guy was on a bus with some new englanders. he asked for their thoughts about the repurcussions of the war. this one guy goes, "you know, actually i was just talking about this with my friends the other day: what if the british had won? well, hmmm, let's see.... we'd have socialized medicine and the cops wouldn't carry guns... [mock horror] OH NOOOOOooooo.....!!!" it was very funny. wink-and-a-nod to miriam: as for bush getting "reelected," well, really, that's impossible, because we didn't elect him. the supreme court did. overpavement: your post the other day cracked me right up, man... i miss that stuff. i made myself refrain from commenting on micheal's post, and i'm glad i didn't, because "lisa" scores again. handily knocked it outta the park. that was fucking hilarious.... dp ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V7 #124 ************************************
