Be forewarned that this is a HUGE file--about half a gigabyte--because it's in a "lossless" format (as opposed to "lossy," such as MP3). That improves the sound quality, but you have to have the means to download it, both in terms of bandwidth and disk space. Plus, you'll need a "torrent" client program to download it, and because it's peer to peer and completely dependent upon whoever downloads it helping out, you're expected to keep your download window open to help out once you're finished. Otherwise, the file disappears, and no one else can get it. This morning this thing was really flying, with tons of folks offering it as "seeds." I downloaded it in just a few hours. As of a few minutes ago, there were four seeds with only one "leech" downloading, so it should still come over quickly. But don't delay if you're interested, because shows like this usually dry up in just a few days, and this one's already been up since yesterday. Subject: [support-system] help me, mary-kate,,, and ashley > As far as the Olsen Twins go, that comment took me aback as well. However, > note that she said "business role models." While the twins have put out some > pretty vapid stuff, they've been very smart about marketing themselves and > retaining popularity for an extended period of time. Though they have a sell > out vibe, at least they haven't been taken for a ride like they could have > easily been considering their young age. hellllloooooo.... the olsen twins have parents. and they've had agents, PR people, stylists--etcetera, etcetera, etcetera--*since birth*. all of whom are making GNP-level money off these kids. those girls are "smart" because their parents hired a highly savvy business team. as for decisions, i'm pretty sure they get to choose what they're having for lunch--maybe. and then only sometimes. "business model," my ass. like all 14-year-old girls, she wants the barbie dream house, a 28 by 28-foot closet full of designer fashions, and the boyfriends to go with each outfit. and it wouldn't hurt if her dad were the king of a small european country so, like, she could grow up in a castle. and her mom's a former supermodel who speaks 17 languages and conducts covert operations through all the major fashion houses. of course, she'll learn to drive in a red lamborghini and her favorite pony's name is "lance." he's pure white and she secretly suspects his mom was a unicorn--'cause he has a bump where the horn should be. and again, this is the woman who, after doing her tour of duty with "lilith," wanted to be natalie merchant. i think--i hope--she makes these comments just to be glib. if not, man, i don't know.... actually, i think all she wants is to have the industry falling over themselves to offer her movies and record deals and then develop lines of clothing, jewelry, and perfume. have her own tv show. stuff like that. she could've just as easily name-checked jennifer lopez, gwen stefani, or, tah dah, oprah. i guess the olsen twins are safer because they don't invite direct comparison via age. (???) i dunno; i'm guessing. i saw her on "on the record," i think it's called; that thing with bob costas. they did a little interview before she did "ExOr" and she sounded great, made some good points. i especially liked the one about wal-mart not featuring her latest because of the cover art. she said, "it pisses me off because i'm fully covered. all that's showing here is an attitude. so i'm being censored for a state of mind." i also like her explanation for going pop, citing that "exile" is really about how much she hated the indy scene. no lame comments about "empowering young girls." she did an acoustic version of "ExOr" and it sounded just fine. accompanied by dino. is that guy her boyfriend? i've heard rumors..... he's got great hair. i like how he busts out the high parts. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 May 2004 05:15:08 EDT From: LilRussianGirl@aol.com Subject: [support-system] torrent How do you get that torrent thing to work? I downloaded it, but it doesn't do anything. Help! You also have to have a BitTorrent client, and know how to use it. Not very hard, BUT, if you have no idea what BitTorrent is and how it works, you need to go to etree.org and sharingthegroove.org and do a lot of reading, and figure it out. Again, it's not that difficult, but you need to learn. That said, without being too critical, this recording of the Chicago HOB show is not that great. If you were at the show, maybe it's a nice souvenir. If you just want a Liz show from the spring tour, I don't think you will listen to this one over and over. It's just a very limited recording, no offense to the taper. There have been, and will be, lots of other Liz BT's, so you need to learn the stuff anyway. ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V7 #105 ************************************
