She's just a human being like yourself. She's definitley approachable, and she is, as you say, "fan friendly". Just hang out at the bus area until she comes out. Ask if you can bother her for an autograph or picture. Knowing Liz, she'll do it. I've been in this "biz" in one form or another for 15 years. Most artists are approachable, as long as you act like a normal person. Can anyone tell me how approachable Liz is? What is the best way to go about it? Hanging by the tour bus before/after the show? I know she is fan friendly from all the stories on this list but I'm a tad nervous that *I* might be the one actually talking to her.....good god.... 42 y/o and nervous about meeting her! Any advice would be appreciated. Feel free to respond privately/off list if you want - just put Liz Phair in the e-mail title as I screen hard for junk mail. Also thanks for the shout outs from Valerie and Space-Egg Katie (finally Liz coming to Florida!) Luckily, their droning voices were fading out as another story of immigrants struggling for redistribution of the wealth---er, "justice"[1], ended and I caught the bumper. They'd chopped out an instrumental from "Uncle Alvarez" and were using it in "Weekend All Things Considered" for Saturday, 06 March, 2004. About bloody time. Unfortunately, neither the artist nor the song title were used. Michael [1] Or something; the whole preceding piece was eminently forgettable. _________________________________________________________ "You think you know what I'm doing, so obviously you don't."---Aeon Flux ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Mar 2004 19:51:01 -0700 From: "Norman Davis" Subject: [support-system] Free man in vegas Did one of my 9-day 3000 mile road trips, so I was able to catch the Vegas show. Pretty much the same set as the last leg that ended in Albuquerque, but she did do "Uncle Alvarez" (still no "What Makes You Happy"). She also did "Bionic" and a cover of Joni's "Free Man in Paris", with someone in the audience afterward quoting the "stroking the star-maker machinery" line. She played "Chopsticks" on the keyboard, commenting that she would daydream about dirty things while she was practicing. Liz stayed around singing autographs for quite a while. There was an article in the R/J (local paper), I can excerpt if anyone's interested. I'm glad Liz is getting more airplay. I like being able to hear her while I'm having lunch at Taco Bell or playing video poker at Jerry's Nugget. If she's tired of the "struggling artiste" and wants to be a pop star, why complain about it? If she wants to be the meat in a Paris and Nichole sandwich, good on her. Maybe she feels that this is her chance before she's as old and as boring as Madonna. __________________________ If you like Tori Amos, you should check out Marina V at www.marinav.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Mar 2004 22:13:37 -0800 From: Kenneth Lee Subject: [support-system] Mesmerizing updated Hey folks, Added some more stuff to Mesmerizing, including an older article (and scans) from "Time Out London" from August 4-11, 1993.
