I've noticed that many Liz songs have a sort of wobble that can be read as being addressed to a particular "you" or to the more generalized you of the audience. I think it struck me with Take a Look (you want to know/all the detail of the disaster) that might be applied to a skittish new guy or curious fans alike, and Firewalker or Blood on the Tracks. But then I noticed it in as a feature of many Liz songs, including Extraordinary and others from Exile on down. I think it has something to with the way she addresses the "you"s that crop up so often in her songs so directly. Whenever Liz is queried on them, she inevitably refers to a particular beau, so it seems likely that most if not all of her songs of this sort address particular loves. We just are all sure it us she's saying it to--which probably is what drew us in the first place. Mike >>> owner-support-system-digest@smoe.org 02/27/04 1:15 AM >>> From: "Julia Rios" I don't really know that any of the songs are about the fans. That seems a bit self-centered of us to want to see it that way. That said, if there was one song on the new album about the fans, I'd have to say it would be "Good Love Never Dies." The words there would fit this interpretation. Consider: It certainly seems more likely to be about the fans than "Extraordinary," which wasn't even written by Liz on her own. I still am inclined to think it's just a love song like most of the others, though.
