Maybe, but if there is one song on LP that is about Liz's so-called "fans", it must be Firewalker. "My hopes are like embers lying around inside a firebed and Your mind is a firewalker, it steps on them like they are dead but I can grow / In spite of all you know You might not recognize me tomorrow Yes I can change / In spite of all they say Become something strange and beautiful Like joy, like joy Me, I'm like a wild flame that catches on whatever's near but Your mind is a firewalker, it sets its course and never veers" etc, etc. Does anyone on this list recognise themselves? - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I never really interpreted "Firewalker" that way, mostly due to the timeline. It dates back to 1999 and was first played on the college tour that spring, long before any of the controversy over her new direction and sound. At that point, it also seemed like most of the press and music critics were still on her side. When we heard about Liz's separation from her husband two or three years ago, I had assumed at that point that it had been written about him. Going back further to "Go On Ahead," you get the impression their marriage was already somewhat strained. "Firewalker" seems like it was the parting shot. I guess the only one who knows for sure is Liz. Has she been asked in any interviews who or what it is about?
