She performed "Why Can't I?", to promote that movie "Win A Date With Tad Hamilton". - -Ken kenmlee@ix.netcom.com MeSmErIzInG - AnOtHeR LiZ PhAiR WeBsItE http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jan 2004 05:39:41 -0800 (PST) From: Valerie Barry Subject: [support-system] WCI, CDs o' 2003, Eleni Mandell i was sitting on my ass watching TV monday night, hoping in vain for freezing rain so i wouldn't have to go to work the next day, and WCI is also being used in end-of-"friends" promotions as background music for the will-ross-and-rachel-remarry? segment. while many of us pegged it right off as *made* for tv soundtracks, i didn't think it would go so far. it's the "i don't want to wait for our lives to be over..." (that paula cole song, come on, sing it with me) of 2003/2004! truthfully, i think i'm sort of in denial that WCI is a liz song. it's like when your date does something obnoxious, and you look away and hope that nobody realizes you're actually *with* him (sorry, liz). that said, i'm going to check if the EP songs are still on my work computer... **little shoutout to DSOTM, sandra, dp...and did i see that TAD came out of the woodwork a while ago?*** incidentally, i never participate in the top 10 of the year lists, but in pretty much constant rotation have been: Grandaddy (the newest one...and the one from a couple years ago), Interpol (Turn on the Bright Lights), Dean Wareham & Britta Phillips (L'avventura), disc two of both Beth Orton's "Pass in Time" and the reissue of Aimee Mann's "Lost in Space." nothing earthshattering, but all worth checking out if you haven't. Eleni Mandell...anyone seen her perform? i have and love one of her albums (CDs, whatever), is her performance worth $8 and going out on a "school night"? xo...vjb __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? To satisfy my curiosity, I went to Amazon.com and checked out the tracklist. Sure enough, Liz is contributing "Extraordinary." The disc is scheduled for release on February 10th. Other artists include: Kylie Minogue, OK Go, Fischerspooner, Junior Senior, Elton John, Sting and Basement Jaxx. When they focused on the inevitable (sorry for the pun) Ross & Rachel question, W.C.I. was playing in the background.
