It only peaked at #7 on this chart, I believe, but must have hung around long enough for this placing. Elsewhere, Liz is absent from the recaps. "Why Can't I" recently also peaked at #10 on Hot Mainstream Top 40 Tracks and appears to have peaked at #32 on the Hot 100, this weeking falling five spots to #37. On Adult Top 40 Recurrents, which charts songs that have been removed from the Adult Top 40 Tracks chart after falling below the Top 20 portion of the chart but which are still receiving significant airplay, "WCI" is #1 for the third week in a row. "Extradordinary" is off to a great start on Adult Top 40 tracks, up from #37 to #30 in its second week on the chart. So I was flying into Chicago on ATA. They play music videos during the loading, unloading and a few in flight. Anyway, they played Liz! The Why Can't I? video. Of course, Stratford-On-Guy would have been more fitting! (even more so if it was with the girlysound version of the lyrics.) And speaking of songs you may not want to play on a plane, they played Dido's White Flag (more than once). For those of you unfamiliar with this song the line "Well I will go down with this ship" is repeated over and over again. Very disorienting Liz moment! I also had a surreal moment this week, concerning Liz music and ads. I'm reading a magazine and the TV is droning on in the background, then the ads come on and I hear a few bars and I'm thinking: "Oh, I recognise this intro" then "Hey, it's Liz!" then "Oh my god, it's HWC!" Brain was now fully on alert, but sadly it was a false alarm. The first few bars were like HWC (even the instruments sounded the same), but then the tune drifted off into something different (and without lyrics), no doubt to put the plagarism lawyers off the scent.
