Oh boy. I like listening to Liz sing her own songs, but hearing her perform that old standard just brought all her wobbliness to the forefront. I wish she'd just slung the guitar on her neck so she didn't look so perfectly useless up there... IMHO, she can't pull off the pop diva vocalist thing AT ALL. Subject: [support-system] Trent Rocks, so does Leona, and my fave albums of 2003 Trent, thank you for your comments. The nitpickiness gets well, old. Leona Naess is very good. I haven't heard her third album yet, but I've enjoyed the first two immensely. I've heard her third album is slower than the other two, so I've been slow to get my hands on it. 2003 seemed to be a year where I enjoyed discovering older releases more than new ones, so I'll throw my list out there with that in mind. Liz Phair - Liz Phair. I've enjoyed it. No, it's not EIG or Whipsmart, but I'm allright with that. And I agree that Extraordinary is one of my faves. I've jumped around my living room more than once rocking out to it. Over the Rhine - Films for Radio and Ohio (which was actually released this year). These cds have a very rich sound and I enjoy the lyrics too. Wheat - Per Second, Per Second, Per Second. I enjoyed them when they opened for Liz, and got their cd because one of their songs really stuck with me, mainly due to how much it rang true for me at the time. Leona Naess - I Tried to Rock You But You Only Roll. See above comments Sarah McLachlan - Afterglow. Much anticipated, at least in my little world. Dido - Life For Rent. Though I agree that No Angel had more staying power, I still love her voice. Third Eye Blind - Out of the Vein. Very catchy and addictive. Pete Yorn - Day I Forgot. Can't decide whether I like this one or Musicforthemorningafter more, but still a solid disc. Dana Glover - Testimony. Came out in 2002, bought it early 2003. She has a great voice and some pretty good lyrics. The Donnas - Spend the Night. My best friend and I regularly rock out to this cd and the lyrics just crack me up. Whew. It took me awhile to come up with 10. Some runners up include John Mayer-Heavier Things and Train-My Private Nation. Good, but didn't quite have the solid play like their earlier discs had in my cd player. One great discovery of the year was The Police - Every Breath You Take The Classics. Have a great evening!
