I know there was the Liar song, the Rapids song, "Insanity" on iTunes, and a version of "Winter Wonderland" on some Target compilation; but I sort of lost track after that. Can someone help me? And can someone tell me what's playing on the Supernova website now for that matter? Thanks. - -Mark _________________________________________________________________ Get dial-up Internet access now with our best offer: 6 months @$9.95/month! http://join.msn.com/?page=dept/dialup ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Dec 2003 08:50:42 -0500 From: Jase Subject: [support-system] Attention Courtney Love fans! I know there are a few of you here... Go to courtneylove.com right away. The first single ("Mono") from her upcoming album is available for download. When Courtney gets to the "Did you miss me?" part, the only correct answer is "Hell yeah, we missed you!" If this song is any indication, _America's Sweetheart_ will probably be the best rock album of 2004. Her name is Leona Naess and she was amazing. She only did 8 songs, but I was completely blown away. I immediately went to Virgin at Union Square and bought her cd, which is also great. In my opinion, she kind of outshone Liz as a performer. She was just very real, not to mention she did about 4 tequilla shots onstage. I kind of felt Liz's performance was a little forced. She was definitely better in August. The opening band (pre Leona) truly sucked. They won a rolling stone contest or something. They had "WB background music" written all over them. One of their lyrics was "Mic check 1-2, 1-2/ What's with you?". It was a ballad. I nearly vomitted. That's mean, but it really was bad. Also, the pictures of Liz are quite unflattering. She looked MUCH better in person. - -daniel PS: the party was easy to get into. I called that day and got two tickets. There was also an open bar from 6-7 (with food as well), and free budweiser all night. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Make your home warm and cozy this winter with tips from MSN House & Home. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Dec 2003 12:09:58 -0800 (PST) From: trent with that boom boom Subject: Re: [support-system] additional show info leona is amazing! i love all of her cds but her second one, i tried to rock you but you only roll, is my favorite. she is really good live ... saw her in october here in detroit. she's a good find ... check out her cds, i think you'll be pleased. trent Daaaaan Theman wrote: I completely forgot to mention the opening act! XOXO, Britney ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Dec 2003 13:49:15 -0800 (GMT-08:00) From: Trent Smith Subject: [support-system] My top 10 of 2003 OK, here goes. There weren't any truly stand-out 'instant classics' for me this year, but there were a lot of good 'second tier' albums, and this list could easily have been top 15 or 20. In general female singers are still ruling the roost, and 'alt-country' (ugh) acts make a suprisingly strong showing, especially considering this is the year I finally quit reading "No Depression." Adult. "Anxiety Always" (Ersatz Audio) Amy Allison "No Frills Friend" (Diesel Only) Kathleen Edwards "Failer" (Zoe) Goldfrapp "Black Cherry" (Mute) Miss Kittin's "Radio Caroline, vol. 1" (Emperor Norton) The New Pornographers "Electric Version" (Matador) OutKast "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" (Arista) Pretty Girls Make Graves "The New Romance" (Matador) Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez "The Trouble With Humans" (Lone Star) Gillian Welch "Soul Journey" (Acony) Honorable mention: Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man -- I found their album pretty bland and undistinguished and almost didn't bother going to their live show, but I'm glad I did because it was powerful and awesome, definitely the best live show I saw this year. As always there's surely all kinds of other great stuff I'll discover next year and think "that should definitely have been on my best of 2003 list!" but I've grown used to it and it doesn't bother me anymore. One last note: even with the EP added on, "Liz Phair" didn't even come close to making this list. I haven't listened to it since June, and haven't even been tempted to. I no longer consider myself a Liz Phair fan and only remain on this list from a mix of inertia and nostalgia. Liz is doing her own thing. Either you love her or you hate her but please stop whining. I like Little Digger and I'm not going into why. I don't have kids nor are my parents divorced. I think Liz still rocks and if you don't then that's cool but please please (PLEASE!!!) stop harping on her little "deficiencies"! I know we don't have to approve of her every move but I don't even understand why it's necessary to make a huge deal about everything. Liz writes, sings and plays well and while her music is not "complex" from a music student's point of view but she likes to have fun, be it with her music, her lyrics, her shows or her nipples for that matter, and I "love" (I swear I'm not a crazy stalker) for it. End scene. (Jase, please don't kill me, I know this is the Liz phan (yes I know that's a typo) you raised me to be but who has a signed set list? ;)) Arie "Yeah, Cheers, Thanks a lot..." Other numbers: Being played over +139% so it's 'most increased play' song. Beaten out only by Outkast and Evanescence. 11 stations have added the song, the only other artist that was higher was Melissa Etheridge with 18 stations. So let's see what happens next. This will climb, but how high I can't say for now. Didn't get Bilboard this week so I can't compare charts. WCI is the top 'recurrent' song, at 1467 plays. It's song that is no longer climbing up any of the other charts, so it's the 'oldie' now. This is also good for Liz, people will know who she is and want to hear her new song.
