Hard to define - not as many teen girls as some suspected..definitely an older group..I chatted in the line to many who seemed 1) devoted to her older self/music and 2) those who just found out about her via FM radio - new stuff..Openers Katy Rose? Hmmmm, maybe..good voice - strong, tight group, sort of a more poetic, harder Gwen Stefani? I could be wrong here..And Wheat? Good, funny frontman..music is ballad/rock standard with a touch of Coldplay re-cycled - would not see them solo, but who am I? As for Liz - much like her San Diego show the night before by the sound of it..wore the same gear I guess! Besides a bit of sound system f-up on the first two songs, the guitar just never left her hands for at least 7 songs..She mixed up her songs VERY well..old/new..but obviously (from my point of view) enjoyed EIG the most - pointedly pressed hard on those songs. Her demeanor was relaxed and assured - she was very up, although not overly..I have not seen her since the WCSE tour..so..as some have noted..she surely has "aged'..but I think in a good way - I mean, the frat boys were still drooling..right? The music was good, definitely - she commented on the HOB sound system..otherwise very little to say other than I think she wanted to say "fuck" as soon as possible..I actually heard someone in the audience, before the show, say, "hey, do ya think Liz can swear since she's in Disneyland?" She also made some reference to her "guitar changing guy" .."hot"..and then I think after the Divorce Song, muttered "bastard"..in reference to?? Other banter I could not pick up - but she was very pleased - happy throughout.. The audience - typical stiff, white OC..but maybe reflected the differences of the people there..The Underwear Song? Big hit in OC! Her band - she didn't know the bass players last name - new I guess..and the drummer was off kilter a few times..does she have a new group in Cali? The lead guitarist was right there..and she smiled at him alot. What else? Maybe it was just me, but Liz truly appeared to be "monitoring" the audience..checking us all out. And even though she didn't really react much to us (there wasn't much to react to!)..there was alot of eye contact going on.. I could have sworn she semi rolled her eyes a couple of times with some of her new stuff..but then again, that could have been me. After the cursory clap-clap at the end, she finished with F and Run and HWC..a good, solid show and she showed very little fatigue that one might have expected. The guitar work was what I really liked..and her voice is right there..I still want to have child..a good sign.
