From the opening fire dance from Beyonce, to Avril Lavigne's moving cover of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", to Michael Jackson's completely bizarre (and, if you ask me, cracked-out) monitor-reading and "What More Can I Give" making-of video... I was guffawing the entire time! hahaha...yeah, it was ridiculous, the entire thing. i've never seen a bigger mismatched group of weirdos in my life. i have a feeling though, live awards shows are going to continue to become more and more like this. almost parodies of themselves, and completely unintentional. the fake plastic is just starting to show TOOOO much. it's like putting glitter paste on dog shit to make it look and smell better. after a while, it just starts to stink no matter what. and they just keep piling it on. casey casum (sp?) was CLASSIC. when he took to the stage and i got a good look at his stretched face (he doesn't look a day over 31) i just burst out laughing and said "what the fuck!??!!?" liz's "I just rock it" line also prompted me to burst out laughing. Tom Petty tuning his guitar while Stevie Nicks presented him with his awards made me a crack a smile. and michael jackson is just plain screwed. i don't know why they paired liz with the chick from ER. talk about zero chemistry, but i guess that's typical with award shows. also - is this liz's first time as a presenter at an awards show, or has she done this before? anyway, yeah that show was brutally hilarious..i swear, something in music/entertainment is like, about to break - really soon. dan ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Oct 2003 08:56:34 -0800 (PST) From: Kate Stewart Subject: Re: [support-system] I want my two hours back > to Avril Lavigne's moving cover of > "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", Wasn't it just like the 7th grade talent show? She really has the voice for it, her ooooh oooooh ooohs were so appropriately flat and apathetic. I seriously expected the gay drama teacher to come out afterward and introduce Sarah Kraszewski, Sarah Ebersole and Sarah Van Ginkle who will now perform a moving rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings" from the hit movie Beaches, complete with acne, braces and heartfelt passion. Too bad Liz didn't take advantage and perform something with Avril Lavigne or at least present an award with her. Now THAT would have been funny. I wonder if she thanked her at the after party for inspiring her latest album. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo!
