The ground floor area was pretty full last night but the VIP balcony area seemed not even half full, and crowd response was very strong. But it was the same situation five years ago when I saw her at the Mayan theater, which may even be smaller. Both times I was able to buy tickets at the box office just before the show. I think at her sales level that's all the live demand she can expect. Also, I saw today she's playing the Anaheim House of Blues on Nov 2, maybe that kept the OC people away. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Sep 2003 22:10:30 +1000 From: "Derek McGough" Subject: [support-system] Billboard Charts this week Hi there, "Liz Phair" drops 20 spots on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week to #141. On the Hot 100, "Why Can't I" holds at #76, same as its debut position last week. However, It has earned a "bullet", indicating that it has gained in airplay, which is strange because it is now absent from the Top 75 Hot 100 Airplay chart On the Mainstream Top 40 chart "Why Can't I?" is up one spot, also with a bullet to #35. On the Adult Top 40 chart it bullets while holding at #11. It peaked at #10 two weeks ago on this chart. According to their site, that place seats 6,000+. If we don't even expect her to sell 2,000 seats, that's going to be a mighty empty room. Does anyone know anything about that show? Is she teaming with other artists? - -Michael - --- Emil Breton wrote: > Liz "not even" selling 2,000 tickets is not a > surprise > at all. I love that song, but I guess I never thought of it as "catchy" You *do* know that the part that goes "makes you wanna..." is a direct "borrow" of the Jesus & Mary Chain song "Head On", right? - --Catherine ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Sep 2003 00:20:58 -0700 From: "Velocityboy3" Subject: [support-system] Say what! This quote certainly raised my eyebrow: "Gah... there I go again... anyway, feel free to nail me in any way. As always, I thrive on it." - - --Catherine Are you sure that's how you want to phrase that? If so, I'm in. And I know Liz has sold out the Roseland a couple times I've been there. Holds almost 3,000 I believe. Emil(Steve?) is right though. That's about the upper limit. More commonly probably 1,000.
