I have a feeling leaving Chicago was not only to be closer to the industry, but an attempt to get away from the whole bad atmosphere of the breakup. Chicago just isn't a happy place for Liz, and it sounds from her descriptions that she felt constrained it (the mention of the ease of being a rock star and a mom in LA in the interview hints at this). I have a feeling she may have been worried about/hasseled by relatives, friends, exs etc. and got out of sorts. As has often been noted, she's not enough of a professional performer yet to let all that drop while putting on the show. Conversely, the great Detroit show came from getting the hell out of Dodge and away from all that bad stuff. It's just speculation of course, but it seems a plausible explanation. I don't think fans in Chicago are any more numerous. She could have easily sold out three shows in NYC or SF. james ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Sep 2003 20:16:39 -0400 From: "Jack Lokensky" Subject: Re: [support-system] girly sound and '96 shelved demos It's been officially released. Pick up "What's Up Matador". It's a cool 2-CD set, I got it at Tower for about $10 new. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Monday, September 08, 2003 12:07 PM Subject: [support-system] girly sound and '96 shelved demos > so the other day I downloaded a liz song called 'stuck on an island' at some > mp3 site... i can't remember the name at the moment. having no idea where this > song came from I went to Mesmerizing to find out. it's listed under '96 > Shelved Demos/Studio Recordings.
