In retrospect, that was a childish move on my part, so I apologize for that. Aaaaanyway, it's all good. I'll probably continue arguing with dana p. on the list (cuz Iiii'm like that, I-i'm like that), until someone tells the two of us to shut the fuck up, and I'll be glad to comply. Admittedly, I'm a motormouth. New off-topic subject: "All my life I've wanted them to say a few things about me..." Here's proof I'm famous: tune into PBS this coming Monday evening and you might catch a glimpse of my bad self in Scarlett O'Hara-like attire. It's the show called "History Detectives" and I'm in the segment about the flag, pretending to hastily sew a flag with two other girls dressed similarly. I'm the one in the middle, in a rust-orangey-brown dress. - --Catherine > From: Dan MacDonald > Date: Sat, 23 Aug 2003 10:11:43 -0400 > To: Liz Phair Digest > Subject: [support-system] C word > > "Michael Honaker" > > wrote: > > An insult > is an insult. I wasn't sure if I was with you at first about how good that song is, but I'm sold now. I love how lately she's been working in this really bombastic, 70's loud rock style. It's a really good, grinding, sing-along-to-the-chorus-at-the-top-of-your-lungs, bitter breakup song. Good times... BTW, does anyone know who plays the screechy guitar solos in Russian Girl? If it's Liz, I would love to see her do that one live. I reallyreally like the WCSEsessions incarnation of this number... I like the added counterpart vocal "on friday night, on friday night" ... for once, I think she "filled out" a previously half-baked ShelvedDemos song well. Granted, it's still pretty much a hook with a lot of rocking-out, but it's a GOOD hook and she rocks out like a fuckin' pro. I'll say it again, I love Liz's pop sensibilities when she bothers to *listen* to them. But no so much for "Tell Me You Like Me". I mean, it definitely needed fleshing out from its SD form, but the way she did it on WCSEsessions doesn't work for me. It's lost its lo-fi creepiness, and the "shut your mouth" and "tell me now" refrains are not quite the thing. Put that one back in the oven. - --Catherine, who is already planning on refurbishing her own personal "rare phair" comp with WCSEsessions trax. ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V6 #227 ************************************
