Subject: [support-system], [s-s], or [liz-phair] i was wondering what the list thought about having a list tag before the subjects. i mean it's not too much of a problem for me really but it would be nicer to easily be able to identify which posts are SS related since there is SO much spam out there these days. if no one cares just disreguard :) long time listener. rare poster. daniel ryder tautou http://red.innervosa.net/ http://originalfools.com/groophug/ icq-1010543 aim-coxonryder ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Jul 2003 06:19:15 -0400 From: Jase Subject: Re: [support-system], [s-s], or [liz-phair] JR? wrote: >i was wondering what the list thought about having a list tag before the >subjects. i mean it's not too much of a problem for me really but it >would be nicer to easily be able to identify which posts are SS related >since there is SO much spam out there these days. if no one cares just >disreguard :) We shouldn't have to worry too much about spam on this list, as smoe.org has SpamAssassin installed, which filters all incoming mail to the list. Unless what you're looking for is a way to distinguish messages from the list from non-list mail, which I can undestand would be more difficult for people on the real-time version of the list rather than the digest. In that case, I believe there's something in the list's config options that I can modify to add such a tag automatically to all posts. If that's what you'd like, let me look into it and see what I can come up with. There are several options, including automatically putting a tag on the subjects, as you mentioned, or changing the color of the message to indicate it's from the mailing list, or automatically transferring list messages into a specified folder. I don't know what program you're using... maybe this is a standard feature on many e-mail apps? Anyway, it's something you might explore... - --Catherine > From: Jase > Date: Mon, 28 Jul 2003 06:19:15 -0400 > To: support-system@smoe.org > Subject: Re: [support-system], [s-s], or [liz-phair] > > JR? wrote: >> i was wondering what the list thought about having a list tag before the >> subjects. i mean it's not too much of a problem for me really but it >> would be nicer to easily be able to identify which posts are SS related >> since there is SO much spam out there these days. if no one cares just >> disreguard :) > > We shouldn't have to worry too much about spam on this list, as smoe.org > has SpamAssassin installed, which filters all incoming mail to the list. > > Unless what you're looking for is a way to distinguish messages from the > list from non-list mail, which I can undestand would be more difficult for > people on the real-time version of the list rather than the digest. I was wondering why this is the only mailing list I'm on that doesn't use a subject tag. I'm all for automatically adding a tag, any tag, that will distinquish emails coming from this list.
