Dan: re: i'd cringe in embarassment/dissapointment i guess the whole thrust (double entendre, sorry) of my defense of the new record is that i really don't care about the lyrics at all. and if you listen to the words not as anything that might actually have a meaning...but rather listen to them as just SOUNDS (and who can resist her voice?), then you can get by the (by comparison to previous songs) mediocrity of her lyrics. now, last night, i saw "The Matrix 2: Reloaded," and what i just said borders on some of the stupid-ass dialogue from that movie. if i can possibly save anybody $8.50 out there in Liz Phair land: RUN! DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM SEEING THAT MOVIE. IT IS THE WORST PIECE OF CRAP MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. you have been warned. chris deLisle ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Jun 2003 12:50:29 -0700 From: Kenneth Lee Subject: Liz / The Believer / The New York Times Hi all, The articles from the June issue of "The Believer" and today's (Sunday's) "New York Times" (both of which haven't been seen or purchased by Mr. Steve Kisko) is now available for viewing at Mesmerizing. Next up, I'm working on that "Venus" article. LULU - Thanks for the heads up about Giants stadium! Liz played for about twenty minutes. I felt a little cheated! She opened with Glory, which was almost funny because she introduced it by saying it was an old one that we might not know (yeah right). Most of the crowd seemed to get a good vibe from her and she made some jokes with sexual innuendo about being "wet" because it was raining the whole day. After that it was Johnny Feel good, Supernova, Why Can't I?, Divorce Song, Rock Me, and closed with Fuck and Run. Forgive me if I screwed up the order. I'm surprised she didn't play Polyester Bride. Last time she was promoting that was her single and most people I know who aren't into Liz know her for that song. She also had a completely different band setup from the last tour. No Janet Rains, No Buddy, no keyboards (thank goodness). Just two guys sitting next to her folksy. I prefer the simplicity and sound of her music when it's stripped down. It also meant she actually *played* her guitar instead of just singing like a vocalist kelp doll. and I know I always want to know so I'll give the fashion report ;) - Striped miniskirt and a girly tee that said "Rock Reputation" on it, strappy, tall sandals, hair similar to EIG era. I know I saw some fans there singing along to F&R. Could someone pick me up a copy of the June / July issue of "One Way Magazine"? It's a freebie given away at Amoeba Records, Borders, LINCS, Tower Records, Virgin Megastores, Wherehouse Music in that area. Liz is apparently featured in the magazine and is on the accompanying CD. Pick one up for yourself as well! :) Email me privately if you can help me out... - -Ken kenmlee@ix.netcom.com MeSmErIzInG - AnOtHeR LiZ PhAiR WeBsItE http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V6 #145 ************************************
