Ohk, call me a retard, but I always get confused whenever I read people mentioning the Matrix. Is it bascially a group of producers who have dubbed themselves this or what? And I guess I am a bit naive to even ask if it really matters who produces what? It's just music for enjoyment. I'm basically sitting here wishing that whatever this Matrix is could have chosen a better name cuz of the upcoming movies. Sykes darnit. Sykes darnit. > It is a group of three producers, who used to be all solo performers. I don't know if they play on Liz's album, but they do play. They took their name not from the movies, but from the real meaning of the word-womb. There is one good example of a song they produced, more than A Levine, and that is jason Meraz (sp). The guy who does the song The Remedy (I Won't Worry). It's the best thing they've done so far, and is a little closer to Liz than AL. I just wish the rest of his album was that good. Apparently Liz is featured on the soundtrack, along with The Flaming Lips and Beth Orton. My first response was to gag, and think that the end was nigh, but if The Flaming Lips and Beth Orton can deign to be on the soundtrack of a teen movie, then maybe the film is more hip than teenybop. And maybe Mandy Moore will take note and stop sounding like the poor man's Britney. ~Andrea S. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MSN 8 helps ELIMINATE E-MAIL VIRUSES. I don't think it hits newsstands though for a week or two. There are 2 awesome pictures of her, one with her heavilly made up and sitting on the end of a bed while a guy is sleeping on it in the background. She looks great, but older. Great clothes, great photos. They have generally good things to say about the record, although it's more of an interview and less of a review. They write about how they expected it to be a break up record, but how it's really very happy. The best part of the article though, is that she trashes Avril Lavigne. Here's what Liz has to say: "I don't think I've been untrue to my sentiments. It's just a bigger production. The Matrix are great, and they're smart, and they're talented. A lot of what people don't like about Avril is Avril - the falseness of how she was marketed. These people just make songs, and like big sound. But they didn't tell the management to take a girl who is 17 and have her pretend to write the songs, even though it's really from the persepective of a woman, (The Matrix's) Lauren Christy who's 35 and basically wrote them". Thought that was a pretty cool thing to say. By the way, no one else mentioned Liz cancelling her show at the Apple store. Did anyone else try to go, or was I the only one? Also, I'm very curious to hear the "alternate mix" of "Good Love Never Dies". I like it so much the way it is, it's one of my favorite songs from the record. - -Daniel _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 May 2003 23:26:57 -0500 From: "sandra" Subject: "why can't i" like this song more? so i was, to put it bluntly, sitting on the toilet in a grocery store rest room when i heard "why can't i?" come over the loudspeaker. and i was sad. i really was. it was the first time i had heard any liz stuff on the radio. (not that i listen to the radio, except, you know, in grocery store rest rooms). i know i have defended this album, but really, the matrix tracks do make me sad. i enjoy them, sure, but do i want to listen to them over and over again waiting to discover something new -- either in the actual listening or in my thoughts that result from listening? no. no i do not. the rest of the album lives up to that standard, or comes close. but the matrix tracks are just candy. like those fizzes that dissolve. disintegrated. sandra ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V6 #116 ************************************
