That's all I can say. It's overproduced, it's polished, it's Hollywood, and I fucking get it. Liz Phair is a genius for "selling out". Now I know what Liz is talking about when she says she needed a pop record that will make average people in middle America think twice. I hope to god it will sell. I hope this album will become a classic. The best can be summed up by "Hot White Cum". It's this pretty, catchy, produced song that could be about something generic, but then you're like "Is she really singing that?!" The chorus is simple: "give me your hot white cum". I don't know what song to even compare it to. Maybe "What Makes you Happy", but about cum. After the first few songs I honestly wasn't sure about the album, some of it is a bit much, particularly "Why Can't I" which sounds extremely similar to "Complicated" by Avril Lavigne, but by the end of the album you really get it. And I've only listened to it once. It is so fucking amazing. I hope you all will look past the production and see it for what it is. This is her best album since "Guyville". It's "Guyville" for a different time. I don't know, it's just so good. She is so smart. That's all I can say, I have to go listen to it some more! -Dan - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Protect your PC - Click here for McAfee.com VirusScan Online ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Mar 2003 17:15:54 -0500 From: Dan MacDonald Subject: new album mp3s holy shit. my computer is down for five days - i get it back up - and all of a sudden, war has broken out. on support system, i mean. oh wait - in real life too. anyway - i think all the bullshitty-complaining people have about promo-copies being sold and ethics and downloading the album onto Kaazaa or napster-type f-servers is tired. we're all gonna buy the damn thing. but i want to hear it now. i don't care if anyone is FBI (ooooh..i know i'd be doing hard time if i got caught. could you imagine: "What are you in for?" - "Oh...that damn Liz Phair album.") but i have a request to anyone who has an advanced copy of the album: Please release the damn thing onto Kaazaa and get those MP3s circulating. i wanna play the album on my radio show to further promote liz - and dammit - i want a copy for myself so i can finally hear the bloody thing. we've talked too much about it. i want the goods and i'm too impatient to wait until June. i have absolutely no problem admitting that. so to anyone who has the album - let's get those mp3s circulating....i'm buying the damn thing in June anyway. and michael - thanks for that review - it was awesome... nice to be back, dan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Mar 2003 21:01:07 EST From: C79helium@aol.com Subject: Fwd: [Trash-talk] [Fwd: JT LeRoy Reding Event, Winona Ryder hosting] I hope you guys don't mind me posting this email that I got from another list. -cana- "That I'm a little despot, short and stout, Here is my handgun, here is my crowd control, When you tick me off then the bullets fly out."
