I'm usually able to pick it up from the current posts . . . but has Liz released a song entitled "Hot White Cum?" I sure hope not . . . james ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Mar 2003 05:52:38 -0800 (PST) From: Craig King Subject: Liz, Liz and more Liz!!!! All of this Liz news is quite overwhelming, yet so very exciting. >So if according to Liz, 3 of the new songs are live demos. Which songs do you think they would be?< I'm personally really hoping for 'Don't Apologize' and 'Firewalker', both of which I've loved since I heard them live on the college '99 tour. As for the third, I've never been a huge fan of Love/Hate, so I'm hoping for Conversation. I remember being at the Lounge Ax when she debut'd it live and being amazed upon hearing the song. Great lyrics, great riff, great everything. It'll be interesting to see the final tracklisting on the new album. BTW, thanks Ken for the Liz interview and all of the Liz updates on your site! Here's hoping for Liz to do her most ambitious tour yet! Craig Yahoo! It is hosted by Jim DeRogatis, pop music critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, and Greg Kot, rock critic for the Chicago Tribune. I only caught the tail end of a segment they were doing about Liz last night and they were not kind. The main jist of the critique is that Liz is trying to be "somewhere between (or a cross between) Avril and Sheryl [Crow]" and that that kids today do not want to hear about a 35 year old mother singing about "white hot bodily fluids". They say she is trying to cut her ties to Chicago and that she refused interviews with both of them, as well as it was really difficult to even get an advance of the new album. They also said Liz was now PATHETIC, the new album is JUST AWEFUL and PATHETIC and it was really sad. They were quite harsh and I seem to remember the work PATHETIC being strewn about quite often. Then they played a new song from her "self-titled" forthcoming release, one of the Matrix songs, "Extraordinary". At the conclusion of the song, there was more Liz bashing. Of course, they could just be upset that Liz went to LA. They did the same thing when Nina Gordon left Veruca Salt. Praised Louise but bashed Nina, saying she sold out and was trying to be something she's not. The only difference in this case is that they were right about Nina. ;) All this is a shame cuz I kinda dug the tune. I wasn't a big fan of "Take a Look" but I really liked "Extraordinary". A little more polished Liz than what we are used to, but really good, kinda "hook-y". But perhaps I am so starved for new material that anything is better than nothing, but I don't think that is the case. They post the audio of the show on their website. As of 9am this morning, it was not up yet, but I imagine it will be up within the next day or so. http://www.soundopinions.net/realaudio.html It was in the first 1/2 hour of a 2 hour show, so I imagine it would be in either segment 1 or segment 2 when it is updated. You guys, don't argue, it doesn't fucking matter, because "White Hot Cum" is a cover of a classic Streisand tune. She sang it in Yentl. jeremy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Mar 2003 15:45:11 -0800 (PST) From: SHERLY McLACHLAN Subject: DON'T FIGHT I think Jeremy's was the best post!!! SMc Yahoo!
