Subject: velvet rope oh i remember now.... i was checking out the ben folds site and someone mentioned "the velvet rope" on there. that's when i got sucked into that atlantic discussion. pretty intriguing stuff. it's interesting to hear the insider's take. i mean, i'm familiar with alotta the names they're bandying about, so.... it's just interesting. and, yeah, i saw that liz "discussion"; whatever that was.... just a bunch of toady guys ogling her bod. they even included, like, almost all the underwear pics from that one site--included them with their posts. it was stupid. oh god, and here's another thing: someone started a thread called "the bitterest song," or something like that and cited marianne faithfull's "why did ya do it?" so there was a good discussion going on about that song and then someone said, "what about liz phair's 'flower'?" (???) yeah, i know.... thankfully someone else goes, "you know, i think that's just a straight-up 'i want to fuck you' song...." it was funny. anyhoo, that whole site is definitely worth browsing. i haven't seen any new posts there on the label deal, but i know alot of people on this list are "in the know" so i thought i'd pose the question. and, holy shit, what's with the random acts of mass death lately? oh my god.... creepy. ugh. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Feb 2003 11:44:31 -0800 (PST) From: robert joyner Subject: happy tragic surfacing? any review copies of the new album out there yet? they should be popping up anytime now. because of the lead time with the music press and deadlines and such, they usually send out review copies of new albums out a month or two months ahead of time. I know when the egg came out i was able to get a copy of it in june (from somebady who had a source at Capitol) and the album itself was released in august. I remember putting up a review and my attempt at the lyrics (with sometimes humorous results...it's funny how "hollow has it's favorite sound" sounds a lot like "hollow asset's favorite town") on my website before it came out. hopefully as people get sneak peeks of the album they will post their reviews for the list. robert ===== - ------------------------------------------------------------ Nashville - A Liz Phair Web Site http://www.geocities.com/robnashville - ------------------------------------------------------------ Yahoo!
