Subject: right 'round, baby ha haaa.... i like that little synopsis alot better than the "pitchfork" one. the "spin" one's funny and--dare i say whip-smart? yee haw! their list is interesting; makes me wanna check back, for sure. someone mentioned checking out the "velvet rope" website--was that a liz-related thing? i forgot.... anyway, i got sucked into the discussion on how there's massive downsizing going on at atlantic. that was going on at the end of december and then into january. does anyone have any info on that? maybe on the whole state of labels these days? anyone? bueller? i know all labels are on pins and needles, but maybe someone on this list has further info. i'm just so curious.... like, is capitol in trouble?? and i just found out that clear channel is developing bands and sponsoring tours. what the hell's that about? did i hear that wrong? seems to me it's bigger sharks eating smaller sharks. i guess that's ok, but where does that leave us--the music lovers of the world?? well, who cares. i guess the big question these days is "are you HOT??" dp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2003 03:40:12 -0500 From: Jase Subject: Re: right 'round, baby dp wrote: >someone mentioned >checking out the "velvet rope" website--was that a liz-related thing? i >forgot.... I know the Velvet Rope was mentioned here not too long ago because there was a Liz-related thread there (which mostly consisted of people drooling over pictures of Liz, rather than discussing her music). I'd been aware of the site for quite a while -- Courtney Love has posted there in the past and she's mentioned it on her own message board -- but the Liz thread is what inspired me to actually check it out for myself. I've always been interested in the inner workings of the music industry (although not as much as the music itself), so I've found a lot of the discussions there interesting. A fair amount of what's posted there is best taken with a grain of salt, though. Also, speaking of Courtney, I know there are a few fans here. In the new issue of NME, there's a piece that previews some of the songs that will be on her forthcoming record. Here's a link to a site that has reprinted the article, for anyone who's interested in checking it out: http://www.moonwashedrose.com/newlovesongs.html Cheers, Jase ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Feb 2003 07:35:54 -0500 From: "Jennifer Sayler" Subject: liz video clip New Liz Video clip at liz-phair.com enjoy! jenny ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2003 08:35:51 -0500 From: ZeeBee Subject: RE: liz video clip wow! how neat to see that VH1 thing and the Coney Island thing, never seen either, and liz once again proves to be cool cool cool.... i had to laugh out loud at the lie detector thing when they asked, "is your name liz phair?" and she promptly replied no. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-support-system@smoe.org [mailto:owner-support-system@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Jennifer Sayler Sent: Friday, February 21, 2003 7:36 AM To: support-system@smoe.org Subject: liz video clip New Liz Video clip at liz-phair.com enjoy! jenny ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2003 18:27:30 -0500 (EST) From: Stephen Griffes Subject: spin > "The self-professed Blowjob Queen of Oberlin's art history department, that's so yawn > The Vaselines - The Way of the Vaselines im kinda shocked to see Spin recognizing the vaselines. cool. surprised they didn't mention sleater-kinney since spin has always devoted attention to them. saw s-k last night in detroit btw. decent show, but they didnt really have much to go on since the (rather large) crowd was full of deadbeats who were too cool to be ineterested just standing with their arms folded. it was pretty embarrassing, and they commented on it asking why the crowd was so lifeless. steve. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2003 21:22:43 -0800 From: Kenneth Lee Subject: Liz at SXSW / responses Hi all, Here is a link to South By Southwest that features Liz: http://www.sxsw.com/music/showcases/index.php?id=5293&PHPSESSID=b25dc2cf7175d6247e347be282651b17 A couple of responses: dana p. wrote: >so, ken, how is this liz interview being conducted? via e-mail? >did i miss the explanation? this whole thing is so cool!! i'm happy for her... The interview is being conducted via email. Since Liz is really busy with things, I decided this would be the best way to do it.
