I havent really gotten any new cds since > august. I give the Aimee cd a thumbs up too. Let's see, I've been really loving Kay Hanley's (ex-letters to cleo) Cherry Marmalade cd. Way more than I expected. Ditto with the Dixie Chicks "Home". Ben Folds Live disc is sooooo damn good, especially the way the audience sings backup on "not the same" it actually gave me chills. and "rock this bitch" made me laugh so hard that had I been drinking a soda at the time, it would have burst from my nose! I also highly recommend "Our Little Corner of the World- Music from Gilmore Girls"- it's a great, quirky mix with some really cool stuff on it. Plus, yesterday Lisa Loeb re-released Cake and Pie as "Hello Lisa" with a couple of new songs- "Take me Back" being the best of them. The new Josh Joplin Group disc, "The Future that Was", has yet to grow on me- with the exception of "i am not the only cowboy" which i listen to obsessively, same with the new Coldplay & Ryan Adams albums. Loving the "Moonlight Mile" soundtrack... the Travis song is probably my favorite new song this year -and fans of Motown should definitely check out "Standing in the Shadows of Motown"- an album with the band who played on pretty much every big hit in Motown's heyday. They play live with Joan Osborne, Meshell Ndegeocello, Montell Jordan, Bootsie Collins & Chaka Khan doing vocals. Great stuff. however, my favorite disc of the fall is hands down the new Bic Runga album "Beautiful Collision". After trying to find it for weeks & eventually ordering it from some Canadian website, I found out that it's due to be released in the States on October 29th. I can't recommend her first album, "Drive", enough! The song "sway" was featured in that American Pie movie... Bic is just wonderful & the new disc is a gorgeous, gorgeous album. give it a try. um. that was a long ramble... i guess it's been a pretty good music season for me :) rick who's going to go see David Sedaris tonight, yaay!! if i abstain from fun & such, i'll probably amount to much; but i shall stay the way i am, because i do not give a damn. -dorothy parker let's face it, kids... rick's homepage oy, with the poodles already! -lorelai gilmore ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Oct 2002 10:01:45 -0700 (PDT) From: "trent \[like a good book\]" Subject: ot: new music the new album "details" by frou frou is amazing! it's good to have her back... t ===== - ---- down new mexico way something about the open road i knew that he was looking for some indian blood and find a little in you find a little in me we may be on this road but we're just impostors in this country you know tori amos -- a sorta fairytale Faith Hill - Exclusive Performances, Videos & More http://faith.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Oct 2002 11:05:03 -0700 (PDT) From: Al Madrid Subject: Re: butterfly bag. For what it's worth, I really dug the bag. It's cool in a cheezy 70s sort of way. I dug the outfit too and the pointed shoes. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' The Last DJ is a winner too. Looking forward to George Harrison's new album coming out on Nov. 19. I wouldn't mind hearing other recommendations either, quite behind on latest updates as far as music goes. I've gotten into older stuff over the summer (The Who & John Denver for example).
