[Stephen Griffes Subject: ot - new aimee mann, other new music. hi, i haven't given aimee's Lost in Space much listen, but it DOES get my vote for best packaging i've seen in a long time! it's great! very ghost-worldesque. what new cds that have come out that y'all are into??? Isn't Fall supposed to see a lot of new releases? I havent really gotten any new cds since august. but i am really taken with the new beth orton. she can be so soothing...just makes me lay my head back, close my eyes, and have that effortless satisfied smile on my face. she's a wonder. and of course, the new dixie chicks is amazing. as much of a departure from FLY as FLY was from Wide open spaces. the patty griffin covers sound better than patty's originals. she is one of the best songwriters out there, i think. there's a maia sharp song on there too, which is great. dolly parton's "halo and horns" is pretty darn good too. just as good as the last one, if not better. this is her third album in three years (that excludes greatest hits packages that come out every other week). it is such a treat to see someone who has been in the biz for several decades putting out the best music of her career right now. oh and allison moorer's "miss fortune" has some gems on it, im really enjoying it now (didnt feel it so much at first). you can get that one pretty cheap at most places right now and it's well worth it if you like good country music. i got neko case's new one too...i thought it was crappy at first, but i've grown to like it more. some songs are kinda loungey and she doesnt really belt it out too much. but it's an interesting mix with good songwriting. i think that's all the new stuff i've been listening to since august or so (going through a little country phase as you see--gets ya through the times). OH i finally have been slapped in the face by One Beat. still think carrie's vocals are a little too much on some songs, but i think the album is fantastic overall and they still make me wanna dance and "change the world" as the critics say. what other new stuff is worth hearing?? i'd like to hear some recommendations (as if i need to spend more $ haha). Steve, pretending he didn't see those pictures with "the bag". ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V5 #206 ************************************
