(have you heard one good thing yet about the >production of this album that sounds promising?) Hi Dan (and all)... Liz isn't actually working with Natalie Imbruglia and Vitamin C (aka Collen Fitzpatrick). She's working with Gary Clark, who wrote songs for them. >i also read that pitchfork article...interesting......the whole Matrix >producer circle thing does sound frightening but if she is using some of >the new songs we know of (Don't Apologize, Firewalker, Down, or maybe Bars >of the Bed or Bloodkeeper might get some phair play on this one too) then i >can't see how the album CAN be bad... i don't care, I gotta hear it before >i dismiss it as crap, regardless of who she's working with. I was thinking along those lines initially (The Matrix just producing Liz compositions), but that was pretty much shot down when I checked this link out: http://www.worldsend.com/matrix.html The Matrix is involved in the writing and the production. And with that roster of acts (generously noted at the link) that they have been involved with, yikes. - -Ken kenmlee@ix.netcom.com MeSmErIzInG - AnOtHeR LiZ PhAiR WeBsItE http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Sep 2002 17:38:48 -0400 (EDT) From: Stephen Griffes Subject: Re: support-system-digest V5 #194 that is weird that liz might be working with vitamin c. i heard a few months ago that louise post is working with poptart stella soleil (formerly known as underground techno diva sister soleil). which is equally weird in the same way (the whole "credible artist whose credibility has become questionable teams up with a once-credible artist who lost all credibility through an incredible poptart transition). :P doyng. if she's gonna do the poptart thing, it could at least be someone cool, like shakira. she could bring some whack back into liz. or paula abdul! if paula had a hand in the ubercatchy "cant get you outta my head," imagine what she can do for bloodkeeper. Oh...i just thought of a previous Vitamin C/Liz conncection! Colleen and Eve's Plum were in the wretched stereotype-fest "Higher Learning" and on the sdtrk. Liz's song dont take time was also on that sdtrk. ta da. steve. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Sep 2002 17:58:08 -0400 (EDT) From: Stephen Griffes Subject: Re: support-system-digest V5 #194 > Liz's song dont take time was also on that sdtrk. er...yeah, dont take time to read through your post before sending. have. steve. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Sep 2002 22:09:30 -0400 From: "feeling happy? pitch a TrenT!" Under terms of the deal, Love is now free from her UMG contract and has already begun recording her debut album for the U.K.-based Poptones Records. The first single is expected in January; the set will feature songwriting contributions from 4 Non Blondes principal Linda Perry. UMG will receive royalties on an unspecified amount of Love's future recordings. The settlement provides for the release of several albums from Love's late husband Kurt Cobain's band Nirvana, including an oft-discussed compilation with the unreleased song "You Know You're Right," a box set, and a collection of rarities. These projects have been held up by litigation and an ongoing media war between Love and Nirvana's surviving members, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. According to a statement, "separate permissions" to move forward with the archival releases were obtained from Grohl and Novoselic. The single-disc hits package "Nirvana" will be released Nov. 12 via UMG, while a video for "You Know You're Right" is being assembled from previously unseen footage of the band. In recent days, an unauthorized copy of the song has flooded online file sharing services and was even played on several U.S. radio stations. The track was recorded just months before Cobain's 1994 suicide. The aforementioned box set is expected to be released in 2004. "We hope that this release will enable longtime Nirvana fans to hear some of their favorite songs in a new context," Love, Novoselic, and Grohl said in a joint statement. "At the same time, the upcoming CD will allow a whole new audience to appreciate Nirvana's music and Kurt Cobain's great talent. We are now moving forward. We thank our fans for their support." As part of the agreement, Love also obtained ownership of unreleased recordings from her defunct band, Hole, and may collaborate with UMG on a future long-form home video. The artist has not released an album since Hole's 1998 set "Celebrity Skin." "I'm excited to be releasing music again and rock music is starting to become very fun," Love said in a separate statement. "I plan to continue my advocacy of artists [rights] in Sacramento, [Calif.] and Washington, [D.C.], where this belongs. I look forward to joining my fellow recording artists as we look for solutions to the problems we face in the music business. We must all work together through lobbying and collective bargaining to create the opportunities that have been lacking in our careers." "We're glad that we have resolved this amicably and wish Courtney well in all of her future endeavors," UMG president/COO Zach Horowitz added.
