What am I missing out on? the new beck is soooo sad but soooo good...i'm addicted to it. hasn't left my cd player since i bought it last week. although i am listening to L7 right now...go figure. okay - um...i am having a problem with this line from that chart attack article: >Phair was rumoured to be writing with hunky >singer-songwriter Pete Yorn as well as Natalie Imbruglia and Vitamin C >(we're still getting over the last one). Vitamin C?? as in Colleen Fitzpatrick of eve's plum? okay...is this a good thing or a bad thing? you guys...should we be seriously concerned?? first of all - is this even true? this is the first i have heard of liz working w/ colleen..... either liz is truly going to put out a pop-album meant for mainstream radio play and a teen following ala avril lavigne - or we are all going to be in love with this album because it will actually be good and will take us by surprise. (have you heard one good thing yet about the production of this album that sounds promising?) i also read that pitchfork article...interesting......the whole Matrix producer circle thing does sound frightening but if she is using some of the new songs we know of (Don't Apologize, Firewalker, Down, or maybe Bars of the Bed or Bloodkeeper might get some phair play on this one too) then i can't see how the album CAN be bad... i don't care, I gotta hear it before i dismiss it as crap, regardless of who she's working with. outtie, dan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2002 22:42:31 EDT From: Johnnycass631@aol.com Subject: Re: support-system-digest V5 #192 Hi everyone! I wonder if it might be ok for me to say something good about Liz Phair, for once. I've never written anything to you guys before - I share this email address with my boyfriend. He's written, I have not. I'm the "cass" part of "johnnycass". I must tell you that it was him that got me into Liz Phair. It was about a year and a half ago, and he thought I might like Polyester Bride. Actually Stratford-On Guy was the song that made me really love her and since then I fell in love with all her songs - starting with Whitechocolatespaceegg as my favorite album, then Exile in Guyville, then Whip Smart. I love everthing now, kind of flipping back and forth on a fav. - mix tapes are good for that, right? Anyway, as far as I've seen from this mailing list, everyone's pretty down on Liz lately. Waiting for the next album and all...so am I! I thought I might give a silly little list of reasons why I love her. I could do better, but I have to go to sleep soon. 1.) Her music is good for many situations: background music, car music, and also the kind you can really just sit down and listen to with no other distractions and be very intrigued and hanging on her every word and every note (I also made a tape for the office - the boss loves her!) 2.) She's great for revenge: I'm pretty quiet and I hate to be "mean" to people even when they screw me over time after time. Like my ex-roommate who was more awful to me than anyone. I just listen to something like Never Said ("so don't look at me sideways, don't even look me straight on") and other songs of hers and I get my peaceful revenge, as if the people I'm thinking of really hear it...I know they don't - just makes me feel a little more powerful... 3.) She's so cute!: I printed pics of her off the internet and covered a lampshade with them. Who else would you rather see in your living room, all lit up like that? (I like doing crafts) 4.) She's giving me something to look forward to: I need new music pretty bad right now. I've gotten into a few new bands recently, which is nice, but I'd like even more new stuff. Just knowing that Liz Phair has an album in the making makes me happy - I know it's coming and I'm looking forward to it. In the meantime, I'll just have to listen to something else. But when it comes out, I'll be really happy. The end. Sorry to bore you all. Just thought I'd share a positive outlook with you glass half full type on the list. Good night!
