Finally, a snarky Liz Phair article on Pitchfork that I didn't write!! I can't remember if I passed this link along when the article first came out, but here's a story I wrote a few months ago, from one of the other times there was a major anouncement of her album: http://pitchforkmedia.com/news/01-11/13.shtml Oh, and even better was the response it got in Reader Mail -- it's pretty far down in the page, so do a word-search for 'Phair': http://pitchforkmedia.com/mail/archive/nov01/30.shtml It's always nice to be publicly recognized as a music-snob, Catherine. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Sep 2002 14:31:38 -0400 (EDT) From: Stephen Griffes Subject: Re: support-system-digest V5 #192 >>Phair-meets-Tori Amos hybrid, Heather Nova.<< what! poor heather! she is so not noxious! what song did these "soulless human drones" (i liked that, hehe) work on her with? I didnt pay attention to the liners of South. i wonder if it was that first song that was added to the US version. hmmm. anyways. exile follies tonite! laundromat immediately after! steve. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Sep 2002 03:11:09 +0000 From: "over pavema" Subject: Re: support-system-digest V5 #192 probably not the first person to post this, but, another article on liz, the matrix, and capitol having the least bit of an expectation that liz should be handled and marketed as a mass-consumption performer: http://www.chartattack.com/damn/2002/09/2710.cfm it starts out... Many of us here at ChartAttack are big Liz Phair fans. Back in the days when she was signed to Matador Records, we much admired her tough-broad-meets-shy-soundstress vibe. So, like many Phair fans, we've been patiently, and we do mean patiently, waiting for her follow-up to 1998's Whitechocolatespaceegg. We're not holding our breath. Back in November, we told you that Phair was working on the new album and had made some questionable choices. Michael "No Myth" Penn was named to produce a handful of tracks and Phair was rumoured to be writing with hunky singer-songwriter Pete Yorn as well as Natalie Imbruglia and Vitamin C (we're still getting over the last one). Now, nearly a year later, things are only getting weirder. ...and goes on from there. o _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V5 #193 ************************************
