Jesus, and people thought it was bad enough when she was working with Pete Yorn. That didn't really bother me as much, but this pretty much seals the deal that this album is going to blow. What's the first single going to be, "Fuck and Run (With My Fans' Money)?" If she has to jump on any particular bandwagon for want of selling albums, I'd rather she do the Hives/Strokes/White Stripes thing, because at least that has a little more in common with her past work. But either way, I'd rather Liz just be herself musically. Part of why I liked her so much in the beginning is how unlike everyone else she was. _Exile in Guyville_ didn't really sound like any other contemporary albums at the time of its release. And what the hell happened to her working with Michael Penn anyway? I think Liz has pretty much officially jumped the shark now. Hey, let's pool some money and buy her a set of all those Stones remasters that came out a couple of weeks ago. She sounds like she can use the inspiration. Although, if it turns out that this wasn't her bright idea, but rather one of Capitol's execs, I say we just boycott all of their releases completely. They may be more about commerce than artistry or integrity, but they're not getting any of my goddamn money. I say we all start saving our pennies for Ms. Love's new album instead. She said on Howard Stern yesterday that she now has 9 songs completed, which means her album will probably be out first anyway. And references to Gang of Four, Wire, The Clash and The Ramones are far more interesting and a lot less dumbed down for the pop market.
