"of the moment". i will listen to them non-stop when they come out - and be in love with them - to the point where a certain album will remind me of a certain age etc..but i rarely pop them in years later. anyway - this album is just like - such a crazy whirlwind of her songs. i can literally map out my entire teenage/early university years by listening to all her greatest hits. the new songs are great too - but it's the old ones that really took me on a nostalgia trip that i didn't expect. sorry to go off on a rant about juliana - but it floored me. i think she is sooo under-rated. her songs are nothing short of brilliant. but oh well... maybe i just needed something to get me off the 8 month Breeders kick i have been on. i swear - i've been listening to nothing but the breeders until i got this juliana album - now i have all her CDs on repeat. it's well worth picking up - even if you already have her other stuff. be even better if she was gonna tour in support and do a greatest hits tour ;) i know part of the coolness of seeing her is that she plays her most current songs - but i have to admit - a tour that concentrates on all the fun, popular songs is would be a trip. that's another weird thing i've been noticing lately. seeing songs that i used to love in highschool played live. it's so weird.... like, seeing Lisa Loeb play "stay" or the Breeders play "Cannonball" or even Green Day (yeah i went) play "Longview". like, seeing the songs i used to love and adore from afar back when i was 16 and camping and smoking pot - seeing them played live feet in front of me years later...it just blows my mind. is that stupid? shit - i'm only 25 but it is sort of a hint. i hear kids in the crowd say "oh shit - this song is soooo old..." and meanwhile i'm thinking "Huh? but this is kinda new....this was out when i was just in grade 11....oh wait...that was ten years ago..." anyway, thought i'd share my rant, disguised as a juliana post. what i truly want now is to see liz phair, just a few feet infront of me, playing supernova - or better yet - a brand spanking new perfect pop gem. byes for now, dan NP: Juliana Hatfield - Beautiful Creature, "Cool Rock Boy" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Aug 2002 00:32:10 -0400 From: "shimmer shimmer like a trent should" Subject: RE: OT - juliana hatfield/music nostalgia Dan wrote: it's well worth picking up - even if you already have her other stuff. be even better if she was gonna tour in support and do a greatest hits tour Actually her current tour with her new band "Some Girls" (Freda Love and Heidi Gluck www.some-girls.com) is focused on doing stuff from her greatest of cd "Gold Stars" (My Sister, Spin The Bottle, etc. including the songs on "Gold Stars" that were supposed to be on the "God's Foot" album [Mountains of Love and Fade Away]) in addition to totally new songs. I just saw her in Cleveland and she was **AMAZING** here is the set list: Feel It Sellout On My Back Choose Drugs Down On Me Your Eyes My Sister First Time Launch Pad Every Breath You Take Spin The Bottle Robot City Only Love Can Break Your Heart Let's Blow It All Necessito Somebody is Waiting For Me Encore: Table For One Ten Foot Pole Slow Motion Everybody Loves Me I think that is correct.......anyways the show was fabulous......and I agree listening to "Gold Stars" is like a scrapbook.......I can totally remember different stages of my life by the song span on this cd......it's been in my car for weeks now. Incidentally Juliana is selling "Epilogue" the, as she said it herself, last recordings by the Blake Babies forever.......only to be sold on this tour. It is an excellent EP.......if for only the cover of "I Wanna Be Sedated"!!!! I recommend that 1.) you do not miss this tour and 2.) you bring $8 for the "Epilogue" EP. :) trent ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V5 #148 ************************************
