Nope, yer not alone. The new Doves album "Last Broadcast" is probably the best album I'll buy all year. I don't know, I guess I always pictured Liz fans to be the sort who'd have crazy record collections. I listen to everything from Jude to ABBA to Dolly Parton (have you HEARD her version of "Stairway to Heaven" yet?) to Travis to Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald (my idea of a musical goddess, if not God herself). One of the reasons I picked up Exile (without even hearing a single tune from it) way back when was that it appeared to be something different from everything I was hearing at the time. This led to great discoveries for me- people like Hole, PJ Harvey, Ani DiFranco, Kasey Chambers, so on & so on. Now why it never works for male artists is a mystery to me... Anyway. on another Juliana Hatfield note, i was watching some old tv episodes I had taped back in '95 and discovered that I had taped Belly, Throwing Muses & Juliana Hatfield appearing on some talk shows promoting King, University & Only Everything! It seems that fate is pointing me back to my Juliana cds lately... peace, rick if i abstain from fun & such, i'll probably amount to much; but i shall stay the way i am, because i do not give a damn. -dorothy parker let's face it, kids... rick's homepage oy, with the poodles already! -lorelai gilmore ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 11:48:48 -0500 From: "Katie Derdoski" Subject: marvel liz fans this is in response to flower's questionn over whether or not she's a marvel liz fan (which i thought was a great way of phrasing). if you are flower, then I am too, because i LOVE doves, portishead, and sigur ros. i also got the new flaming lips cd. i'm not sure if i like it as much as the soft bulletin, but it is damn good. i've also been listening to the hives, the strokes, and the old stuff that was once called grunge (back in about 1994-days.) the one-hit grunge wonders make me happy, along with classics. i crave that sound, even now. i'm not as much a fan of female singers, but i think liz an exception. i like fiona apple and veruca salt and juliana hatfield and courtney love's voice...and the breeders. okay i like women singers too. i just favor the men. so anyway. you're not the only one. at least there's two of us! katie River Poet Search Naivete....Pick up here and chase the ride/The river empties to the tide...All of this is coming your way... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: Click Here ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 23:31:13 -0400 (EDT) From: Stephen Griffes Subject: Re: support-system-digest V5 #141 > saw breeders last night in detroit. fantastic show beyond belief. i was way just wanted to second that...i finally got to see them after missing them for dumb reasons the past two times. and im glad i missed them because it made me so much more pumped for this one and i love title tk and it has gotten me on the biggest breeders kick. it was the best show i've seen this year...probably one of the best shows ive ever seen (non tori anyways)...they played forever it seems (23 songs total i think) the crowd, while pretty big, was kinda dead but my friends and i had our own little dance floor going off to the side and the supersexy bassist kept smiling in our direction. i about peed when they did future boy. how adorable is kelley?! and again when they did iris. hell, no song disappointed. every single one was fucking awesome. > kim and kelley's parents were even there! yes! we danced with them! they're so nice! it was really the bestest show i've seen in a long time and i am in complete love with title tk...took awhile to grow on me but it has smacked me in the face...the breeders are just about as good as rocknroll gets. im glad to have them back. i really want to catch another show on this tour...im too busy though. baaaah. impteen was fab, too btw. so cute and so sexy. new songs sound great. steve "if you want it bad you gotta steal your own fuel" huffer ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V5 #142 ************************************
