She had a 6 piece band which is her official band now (3 girls/3 boys) and she totally rocked out on guitar (none of that madonna "strum strum strum, look--i know a song" BS). she was total rockstar. I saw her do a special club performance in december...she did maybe 6 songs and was total diva and there was no band. the cher show was different--she rocked out. she did time after time by herself on a dulcimmer--it was gorgeous. and true colors wrapped in a pride flag. and the new songs are fab. it was a lovely affair and the best performance i've seen in a loooong time by anyone. I loved cyndi as a kid, and after her success began to wane (1986?) i just sorta loved her as a campy novelty--ya know, the whole "i liked her when i was a kid, so i still do". After seeing her perform this past time, i decided that HELL, i'm not going to pretend anymore. I love cyndi lauper the same way i love tori amos, kristin hersh, or liz phair. I feel so much better now that I have realized this about myself. ;) this is my last email about cyndi lauper i promise, sorry :) Steve. ps - T, i got my crop ready. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Jun 2002 16:57:14 -0700 (PDT) From: "Tom K."
