Maybe I should start posting more frequently so when I do post it doesn't get bounced. Anyway, I hope that this gets sent correctly and you guys get this. I get the daily newsletter website, Daily Candy, here in New York. And today's talks about Cherish, so I thought y'all would like to hear what they had to say: Homeward Bound Look! On the screen! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... Nope, not Spider-Man. It's Cherish, a welcome reprieve from the jump cuts and digitally enhanced pod launchers of the summer movie season. It's a genre bending love story wrapped in a coming-of-age thriller, with stalkers, inmates, and campy kicks. Robin Tunney stars as Zoe, the insecure girl in the office who just wants a boyfriend and a better job. (Sound familiar?) After an unfortunate drunken accident, she finds herself under house arrest until the trial. Her mission? Find the mystery man who got her into trouble -- without leaving the living room. Jason Priestly plays the cheesy '90s stud; indie rocker Liz Phair, in her first acting role, nails the blonde office bitch. As for Robin Tunney, well, she's not at all what you'd expect from Miss Hollywood Blockbuster. And the soundtrack! You'll be imeshing in overdrive, downloading classics from the Turtles to the Cure. You gotta love a movie that aims higher than Spidey can climb. Go buy this album >>now! :) ... well said. i saw her a couple of years ago, when in Seattle, she was singing with Damien Jurado. i was chatting to her and she was very sweet. Last week she opened for Jewel in the UK and stunned the Albert Hall into silence with her singing, she was later almost mobbed by people wanting signed albums that they'd rushed to buy in the intermission. Her album is simply stunning. Think Nanci Griffith at her finest, or Mary Lorson at her most plaintive... and then some. be prepared to cry when you listen to it. Imagine that a dusty photo album could sing to you, these are the songs. www.rosiethomas.com you can trust me... go buy it. money back if not satisfied (subject to terms and conditions... mainly being that you won't want to return the cd) _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Jun 2002 12:23:42 -0400 From: Subject: a good morning... ...actually, it was a crappy morning. i was tired and groggy (after staying out to watch the red wings kick ass!) and i had slept with my arm in some weird position that caused me pain (still hurts). but somehow, my seven minute commute coincided with the three-plus minutes it took for the DJ at WRAS 88.5 (the Georgia State Univ. station) to play "Don't Have Time." what a pleasant surprise! of course, he misidentified it as being "from her 1994 album," rather than the "higher learning" soundtrack, but he played relatively obscure liz, so i'm not gonna bitch. also kicking myself because i didn't realize until too late that "cherish" was kicking off the atlanta film festival last week. oops. ...valerie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Jun 2002 10:58:02 -0700 From: carrma@WellsFargo.COM Subject: Liz, Liz everywhere and not a drop to drink I saw the Cherish trailer on the big screen last night! It's been so many months since the last of the billboards baring her likeness were covered over--it was nice to see Liz again larger than life and luminous staring out at the audience with her exaggerated MTM flip hairdo. Today I was checking out the Counting Crows Web site and in the updates from Adam Duritz in the 5/19/02 -Amsterdam, The Netherlands entry he writes: "By the way, I'm in the middle of listening to Liz Phair's 2nd album "Whip-Smart". I haven't heard this in a long time. I forgot how much I love this album." So now I have a craving to hear some Liz and I don't have any of her cds with me...6 more hours until I get off work. damn.
