(as for j.lo, ream away....something, anything. there's simply no explanation.) i couldn't decide if that one "yay for soft-porn" post was a joke or what. it sure got people talkin'. and, yeah, that whole subject is thoroughly flogged.... so now what? hmmmm. i'm still wondering what her tactic is now that we "know" she hates capitol. what good would it do her to stall and prolong the agony? bang out some "product" and move on, i say.... she wouldn't be the first to have to navigate the corporate cesspool. she can write better material than most without even trying; if it doesn't sell and capitol drops her, how is she "compromised"? i mean, really? i don't think it would be a loss. she's too worried about what everyone else thinks, anyways, including idiots like us. i'm serious. she needs to just get going and get it out. perfectionism is a nasty beastie sometimes. she should just fuck up on her own terms, lose her "audience," blah, blah, blah, and then forget about it (see text below). tequila!! yikes, saw "basquiat" tonite--*to-ta-lly* gut-wrenching.... great film, but wow. has that guy done anything else--the actor who played him, i mean? he was fantastic.... and there was a great line in that movie about the course of fame: the benicio del toro character is outlining to j.-m. that it takes 4 years to become famous, 6 to become rich. then you "have to keep doing the same thing or else your audience will be 'confused.'" and "if you try something new, they'll hate you, which they'll do anyway...." it was great. perfect, in fact. alrighty dp ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 09:02:20 EDT From: TheCowSay@aol.com Subject: Re: support-system-digest V5 #109 Nothing really exciting, but I was looking at my copy of Exile in Guyville, which I bought last year, and I noticed that the Matador label was nowhere to be found. However, on my Whip-Smart and whitechocolatespaceegg albums, bought about a month later, it's all...there. What's up with that? It may have something to do with my buying Exile... at a CD store and getting Whip-Smart and WCSE through a music club. But...yeah...does Capital take the Matador label off Liz's old CDs now? Is that common? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 11:40:15 -0400 From: "Daaaaan Theman" Subject: liz's nipples Liz's nipple is included on the cover of "Exile in Guyville". It's in the bottom right corner. The girl inside is not Liz. Not to burst anyone's bubbles, but Liz was highly considering doing Playboy circa 1994. She also appeared fully nude (vagina and all) in one of the slideshow pictures from her WCSE tour. I think what Sheryl Crow did was just cheesy, but Liz obviously has no problems with objectifying herself. Just listen to her lyrics! "Flower", "Fuck or Die", "Shitloads of Money",etc. And jesus christ, whe are we going to get a fucking release date?! By the way, if anyone likes Bjork, you can vote for what songs you want (b-sides and all) on her new greatest hits cd at her website. No harm done. Her pal Sheryl Crow has done it, so why shouldn't Liz? Liz is just as attractive (if not more so) than Sheryl. And since Liz is pursuing an acting career, getting her face and body out in public view more is probably a good thing. And for those of you who are pooh-pooh my idea and sheer lunacy, consider that Liz has already, (a) shown part of her nipple in the cover photo of "Exile", (b) posed in several photos in her underwear (remember the shot of Liz licking a straw in a glass of a chocolate milkshake), (c) posed in numerous photos with themes ranging from subtle suggestions of sexuality to fairly direct eroticism. Just look through the pictures archive in Ken's wonderfully thorough photo collection. Many of those pictures, especially the modeling shots, are more or less the kinds of Maxim-type photos I'm talking about. And so much of Liz's lyrical content is about sex anyway that for her to do photo shoots related to sex doesn't seem a stretch at all. The only thing I care about is, when is her damn friggin album coming out? Come on Liz, I'm gettin bored waiting. Some people would love to be in your position. I'm waiting for Maria Mckee to release her new album. From her web site a while back she had said it's all ready to go and she just needs to find a distributor. That was a couple of months ago and still no word on when or how it will be released. Ah, would be nice if they were released at the same time, like NOW! Just a little irritated. At least release some info on what's happening with it and a TENTATIVE release date (even if it that happens to be next year). ANYTHING will do. whatever, Al Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 09:58:09 -0700 (PDT) From: Al Madrid Subject: Little things an artist can do to satisfy her/his fans... ...Maria Mckee keeps in touch with her fans this way. Liz and her management company AMG already own the rights to several liz urls. lizphair.com, lizphair.net and lizphair.org are all registered to liz's manager scott mcghee. They have been since around 2000 sometime. Unfortunately, there has been no effort by liz or her management to put up some kind of official site for fans to flock to. Hard to believe that in 2002 an artist would just ignore the internet as a tool to keep the attention of her fans. later Robert ===== - ------------------------------------------------------------ Nashville - A Liz Phair Web Site http://www.geocities.com/robnashville - ------------------------------------------------------------ Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V5 #110 ************************************
