I just talked with some people at Matador that I know. They maintain that Liz was not only unhappy to be leaving Matador, but she has a severe problem with the management at Capitol. Since she was one of the split winnings of the deal between Capitol and Matador, Capitol got her as part of the agreement and she didnt want to go at all. This is a driving force behind her laziness in producing an album. She hates the label she's with. Much like Tori Amos at Atlantic. However, instead of just being stagnant and pissed, Tori pumped out two albums (To Venus & Back, Strange Little Girls) to get out of her contract.
