Hello All, Here is the link to the interview. Interpret it as you will. It sounds to me like she thinks they're faggy and stupid. http://debra.rau.ac.za/Music/Kristin_Hersh/ (I really love the 2nd grade story. Trauma.) - -------------------- So, friends, I saw Cherish on Friday at the SF Indie Festival and I don't want to give away plot unless it's requested. Liz plays Robin's bitch-ridden boss, as you all well know if you are anything in this community. She was fun to watch onscreen but was an ok actress given what she worked with. She had small line parts interspersed throughout the movie. She was quite present in the intro, and showed up 2 or three more times throughout as people called her company, and again toward the ending. Her lines consisted of sassyness, superiority, and bitchiness. She just shows attitude. In other news, A WCSE poster is blantently obvious during one scene in a record store and people giggled when they saw it.During the Q&A the director said she got involved because her and Robin are friends and apparently they thought it was cool and would go along with the feel of the movie. That's a pretty sparse version of Liz's involvement. She's a pretty important character considering. It was great seeing her name onscreen in the beginning. The movie plays again Wednesday in SF at the Kabuki AMC on Post at 4:30. It gets released to major distribution on June 7th. Robin Tunney was adorable to watch (Plus she answered questions via the director's cell at the Q&A.) Tell me if you'd like to know more, Nathan _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Apr 2002 08:58:26 GMT+1 From: Thierry Pottier Subject: Re: tori (then what about POE ???) Here is a quote from Liz about Michael Penn's production from an article circa 10/31/01. "Michael's sound is something that I have never really heard before," "He places me in it so beautifully. He'll do things like get an industrial sound and replace it for a snare drum. It's one of the most intense-sounding things I've ever done." Now if this is anvil style percussion like mid-80's Depeche Mode, I think that would be very cool, but if it is actual electronic programming, I think it has the potential to be very hit or miss depending on the opinion. I trust in Michael Penn, but sometimes drum loops can just sound bad. But if Liz says intense, I'm hoping they're not sloppy and uninnovative. On the Sheryl Crow note, I think one of the most unbearable things about her new album is the horrible drum programming she included and that addition brings down it down. If Liz's new album does have great industrial infuences I think it would be fantastic. I would enjoy a strong loud percussion clank. (they either came up with the B-sharps or the B-flats ~ for the life of me, i can't remember what it was.) "Soak Up The Sun" is not a funny song in the least bit (that's not what i'm striving at), but i thought it was excellent the first time i heard it. i thought it might be the one original Sheryl Crow song that i loved. it DID have a "Phair-ish" sound to it. it sounded quirky in a way Liz normally can be. and then, (like the sound of the B-sharps/flats name) after each listen, it got less excellent. by now, it's completely banal to me. i think that guy on Bravo's Musicians program said it was destined to become a "summer classic" or something. i don't think so. and is it just me, is it the make-up job or something? doesn't Sheryl look like she had some plastic surgery done on her? for all you people out there who just have to have the slightest imperfections deleted through plastic surgery, don't do it. you look less like a human being than you did before. my 2 cents, chris deLisle ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Apr 2002 18:08:22 GMT+1 From: Thierry Pottier Subject: Re[1] tori (then what about POE ???)
