All I can say is that it's extremely frustrating hearing her voice as background instead of being the solo featured voice. I'm wondering why she even bothered doing it, except as a favor to a friend. I missed the Tonight Show yesterday so I didn't catch her performance with Sheryl Crow. But she's supposed to be on again tonight, right? I'll try not to space out and to watch even though it might be almost as unsatisfying as listening to the actual song. Andrea S.Get more from the Web. Christine and Liz Phair sat next to each other on the cot, giggling like teenagers. Patting the bed, Liz called me over--I obeyed and sat down. What the f**ck was going on? Then I stared back at the ceiling....[blah blah blah i dont wanna type all this] Stared at the ceiling again, i was somewhere between drunk and hungover. Remembered my name, why i'm here, etcetera, and turned to my right: Liz Phair wasn't asleep next to me, thank God; Christine would f**cking kill me." I dont get it either. Later, in the TELEVISION SOUNDS section it says: April 25 Sheryl Crow and Liz Phair (not as cool as it sounds) Tonight show with jay leno april 26 Sheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks and then in the review of Sheryl crow's new album it says: "Indie Princess Liz Phair delivers raspy vocals on the radio-friendly single "Soak up the sun" anyways. that all was too weird not to share. the first two things sound like typical mid 90s dumb guy Liz fantasies...weird to see that kinda stuff again. anyways. steve. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2002 23:46:24 -0500 From: John-Paul Finger Subject: Liz on Jay... In regards to just seeing Liz on Jay Leno, just a few quick thoughts (and I'm sure I'm leaving out a few) - Yeah, shes pretty damn good looking as usual, though I dunno about her being so tan. Not that I'm against tan, but its just not the Liz that I have plastered on my walls and in my mind. She still looked great and stole the show from Sheryl. Here we go again into the Liz of yester-year versus the Liz of today... Its like Capitol and/or Liz herself is/are really pushing for Liz to be seen. It wasn't Sheryl Crow on TV, it was Sheryl Crow with Liz Phair. Its a small thing, but lets all hope its another piece of the ramp-up for Liz' album. And in the end I could have gone without Jay's sexual references - that man took a beautiful series of thoughts and images, interjected himself in them, and therefore ruined them. Still definitely worth watching again, so I'm glad I ran out of tape RIGHT at the end of it.
