I know I'm still excited because it's new - but it could possibly be their very best work to date. It isn't a bit like their other stuff (comparable to POD with all the abstract lyrics) but it is just...outstanding..like, different - but SOOO Kim Deal - like just - it's such a signature album, but completely original. I wish I could write a review to do it justice - but I can't even describe it - it is a bunch of sounds I've never heard before. This album is recorded proof that there still is such a thing as "alternative music". Well worth the 9 year wait.. dan. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Mar 2002 23:46:05 EST From: TheCowSay@aol.com Subject: Waking Up in Reno I haven't been subscribed to this for very long...but...yeah...I went to see Amelie yesterday...and before the movie they showed a trailer for the new Billy Bob Thorton / Patrick Swayze movie (?) Waking Up in Reno and...it played "Baby Got Going" in the background...and...that was kind of cool...? Or...it kind of took me by surprise anyway. And...I doubt that they drop Liz Phair, but if they do, I doubt that Liz will have all that much trouble finding another label...just because...this isn't like country music where getting dropped from a label means the end of a career. Or *is* it? I don't know. I know absolutely nothing about the record industry. Does anybody know what's taking her so long to get her next album out? Like...because...I read some article in Rolling Stone from when she was promoting Whitechocolatespaceegg and she was all "Yeah... I'm still writing new music" and...I remember a few months ago, she was all "I have 40 tracks done, and I just need to edit them down to an album" and then something about Pete Yorn...and now...apparently her album's not going to come out until fall...? ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V5 #59 ***********************************
