They are indeed. They are playing the 9th and 11th of this month at the Bowery Ballroom . . . already sold out, though. I've been hearing a lot about there shows thus far. Apparently, Kim has been getting smashed before the shows . . . so smashed that she can't remember chords and lyrics and often ends the show early. It seems Kelly has become the responsible one . . . who would have guessed? Either way it should be a show we will never forget. james ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Feb 2002 12:13:48 -0800 (PST) From: Kate Stewart Subject: SC in Hawaii My sister-in-law's brother works for Wayne Isham, the video director, and he is going to Hawaii to work on a new Cheryl Crow video. Does anyone know if the video for Soak up the sun has been shot? I am wondering if this is it, because it's in Hawaii, and I wonder if Liz will be in it. I don't know this guy well, but maybe I could figure it out. It would be great to see her in a new video, even if it is with SC. Kate Great stuff seeking new owners in Yahoo! That would be the correct song. Out of the two October shows, only the Hollywood Bowl one, where Courtney opened for Jane's Addiction, has surfaced. The previous night's show in Ventura either wasn't recorded or hasn't started circulating yet. I hope at one point it will, because it contains two more new songs than the Hollywood Bowl show and some interesting cover choices. The copy you heard would have been sourced from the Hollywood Bowl bootleg. I'd offer to make you a copy, but I'm already behind on trades. It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I'm caught up. Courtney posted some (but not all) of the lyrics to both "But Julian" and "All the Drugs" on the Hole message board a while back. I'd post them here, but the site has a strict copyright policy and I don't want to risk infringing it by reprinting her posts. Your best bet might be to register for the board and then search for the posts there. The lyrics are brilliant, though. There's a sort of stream-of-consciousness vibe to them, and you have to love any song whose lyrics reference Gang of Four, Wire, the Ramones, the Clash, and probably others that I haven't yet picked up on. I don't know if the Durst disses are part of the song itself (they weren't in the lyrics she posted) or if they were improvised, but I can't help but appreciate them as well ("Get Durst out of your ass, fuckers!"). If you're still interested, I could try making you a copy in a couple of weeks. As it is, I already owe someone else on the list a copy (which *will* be going out in the mail tomorrow).
