For those keeping score, that's two >albums in 11 months. > You know, I think thats a *very* good idea. I don't think it would hurt. I think Capitol should do more with her site. Take Alanis Morissette for instance, her site is even listing the lyrics for the new album (Under Rug Swept) before the album is out. Plus, they've already released an internet single, "Utopia", after everything that happened on Sep 11. Alanis has a great web presence. I wish Liz did as well. In my opinion, they also should invest in something similar to Live365 and do Liz Phair radio. Low bandwidth mp3 streaming, like something at a 28bit or 32bit level. Nothing thats high quality enough for the label to consider copyright infringement. As for Alanis, if anyone hasn't heard the soon to be new single, "Hands Clean", I urge you to give it a listen. It's very good. You can find it just about anywhere - like audio galaxy or WinMx. I was skeptical of what the new stuff would sound like, but she still has that uncanny ability to fit 87 syllables per line into the song, so naturally, I still think she's an amazing musician and songwriter. thats my opinion - - -michael ============================== http://suprnova.lunamorena.net ============================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 14:06:31 EST From: YuriG2@aol.com Subject: MTV2 UK In the UK MTV2 have a viewers choice hour's. I am fortunate enough to have my selection's air this friday in the early hours (3am). I thought any other people in the UK who read the list might be interested to know that Polyester Bride is one of my choices. I've only once seen a Liz video played here so maybe she'll pick up a fan or two (then again 3am is hardly prime time). Other artists included in my hour are Radiohead, Bjork, Beck, PJ Harvey, Girls Vs Boys, Pavement any many more. ~ Mark ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Jan 2002 21:37:32 -0500 From: Dan MacDonald Subject: obscure demos and hiatus-hyenas robert joyner wrote: >It would be relly cool if Capitol did something like >this for Liz's website. I think it would really help her out - and it would give a MAJOR burst to website hits - seeing as probably everyone on this list would be at that site to download the latest obscure demo. I know I would - and yes - I will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS buy a Liz album - i don't care if I can download it for free - I do burn songs - but I support ALL of my artists by buying their albums from the store, and I will always do this. Also - while we are on the subject..it is interesting. Liz has not made an album for 4 years - same amount of time between Whip-Smart and Whitechocolate has gone by again between WCSE and the new one... how strange is that? Now - what is the difference between what Liz is doing (4 year album gaps) - - and a "hiatus"? Foxy Brown has supposedly just returned from a hiatus - yet it has only been 2 years since her last album. I mean, would it be accurate to say liz is "returning" from a hiatus...probably not, right? Yet..there have not been many new things music-wise with liz. What has she really done since WCSE?? a few commercials... the "DOWN" song and commercial.. a TV theme song.. acted in a movie... Julie Johnson songs...ah fuck - you know, I guess she has been doing stuff now that I look at it written down. Forget all of this - Liz wasn't on hiatus at all. I see the light now. It's crazy though...it never feels like a "return" album with Liz...and also - does anyone notice, Liz is kinda-sorta behind schedule with regard to album progress. This time in 1998 - we already had demos and we probably already had a title for the "forthcoming" album...(little did we know we still had to wait until august) but - we knew a LOT more...what do we know now? She is working with Michael Penn and Pete Y., we don't have any demos, we don't have anything in the way of a track listing..I don't know.. I just really thought we would hear something by now - I'm kinda nervous if it is gonna be another August album - and I'm even more nervous over whether or not we are even going to see it this year - which is PATHETIC to say since we are only in the first few weeks of the VERY first month..but come on - if she is still recording stuff and the production is not finished yet (we all know how fast Liz is in the studio) - I am guessing it would be AT LEAST another 6 months before the album is out - and that is IF she is done recording. But I have no clue with regard to the progress of the album...is she done? Or is she at the ever-famous "finishing touches on her forthcoming album" phase? Which basically means - the album is on hiatus. Anyway, I am crossing my fingers that I will be made to look like an idiot - - and we will all receive a great big fat digest tomorrow packed with brand new facts and release dates about the new album... dan.
