what a fucked up movie.... its was soo.... its was just, beyond. i cant even 
decide whether or not i loved it or hated it.... it was just, so... 
inconsistent... the first half of it is pretty reminiscent of your usual tom 
cruise movie, but then the second half goes into this out-of-body, sci-fi 
(yes, i said sci-fi) thriller that is just sooo... not expected from the 
first half... far fetched? yes! ugh, i dont even know what to think... has 
anyone else seen it? then maybe you'd know what i am talking about. there 
were just some parts in the second half that make me think "oh, come the fuck 
on! that is impossible...". or even cheesy? so now im thinking maybe it wasnt 
so inconsistent... i guess there were subtle (EXTREMELY subtle) hints of 
where this movie was headed, but still... it was just, beyond unexpected (but 
still kind of corny). well, yea... but there was so much good music in it! i 
can't decide whether or not i love it or hate it, but if i decide that i hate 
it the music in it will totally sway me... courtney love, radiohead, rem, u2, 
bjork, jeff buckley, and some other awesome songs that i need to download 
(but am not familiar with their names) were either played or referenced... 
wow.

I haven't seen Vanilla Sky yet, but I liked the original- Open Your Eyes- it 
was a Spanish movie by the guy who directed The Others. He also made this 
great movie called "Tesis" which was really really friggin' scary. I'm kind 
of wary about seeing Vanilla Sky because the trailers look like they remade 
Open Your Eyes *exactly*. But I have faith in Cameron Crowe, so I'm 
anticipating something great. The storyline is pretty much a mindfuck though 
:) 

ummm that was pretty random & off topic. so since i'm doing that anyway, i 
should add that regarding a recent thread & after finally seeing "Hedwig" i 
vote that we make Stephen Trask a big, big gay rock star. he rocks & he's 
like, totally hot. <grin>

okay, 
here's my list for 2001.  the BEST record of 2001 was
'white blood cells' by the white stripes.  i totally
love this band.  they are way better than the strokes
(even though they're great too, they're even on my
list).  but if you have not heard the white stripes,
put it on your to-do-list yesterday!  they kick more
ass than jackie chan did in all his movies combined. 
anyway, the rest of the list in no particular order:

'everybody got their something' by nikka costa
'mobilize' by grant-lee phillips
'is this it?' by the strokes
'amnesiac/i might be wrong (live recordings)' by
radiohead
'gold' by ryan adams
'it's a wonderful life' by sparklehorse
'short-staffed at the gene pool' by ruby
'pneumonia' by whiskeytown
'black rebel motorcycle club' by BRMC
'fan dance' by sam phillips
'beautifulgarbage' by garbage (i totally dig this cd,
even though a lot of people say it sucks.  i don't
know why they would say that.)

anyway, that's it!
