That's bad! So, here's what I did like: 1. Centro-Matic: Distance and Clime Will Johnson is very well-known in the texas indie music scene. He's written 200+ songs so far, released 6 full length albums since 1997 all of which have had great reviews (he's been compared to Neil Young in England and other European countries although I don't think he sounds anything like him. I think they're talking about his style and ability), not to mention all the compilations he's contributed to. The running total on songs released...133! (counting the self-released, full length cd's, compilations, and including the very few that were re-released after some changes) Oh yeah, that also includes the album he had to release under a different band name since the European label wouldn't allow more than 2 albums a year! "all the falsest hearts can try" was #1 on Rolling Stone's college albums in 2000, just to prove I'm not the only one. :) Quality AND quantity...you don't see that often. Check him/them out! www.centro-matic.com 2. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: BRMC I actually started listening to them last year after seeing them open for the Dandy Warhols in Dallas. since they hadn't released anything, I got the stuff off Napster. See, it's good for something. So, that held me over until they finally release the album this year. 3. PJ Harvey: Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea 4. Rufus Wainwright: Poses (I love anything he does!) 5. Toadies: Hell Below, Stars Above One more note, Will Johnson(see #1) was the drummer for another Texas band called Funland in which Clark (the last guitarist for the Toadies) also played. 5. Weezer: green album 6. Gorillaz: Gorillaz 7. Garbage: beautifulgarbage (this one's taken me a while to get used to, it's good though) Yeah, I know, way more than 2 cents, but that's the point of these things, right? To give great musicians the recognition they deserve but don't always get and to open people up to things they didn't know existed. Okay, I'm done. Check out Yahoo! Shopping and Yahoo!
