I don't want to start the producer debate again, but this is from the Village
Voice's Consumer Guide (Robert Christgau) 20 worst albums of the year:

rock and roll it'll make your skin crawl on contact. If you have a weakness
for tune it'll grow on you. Only then, if you have any brains left, you'll

the lyric sheetba fusion of old-style singer-songwriter indirection and
new-style song-doctor ur-banality. Honors the diction and cadences of
ordinary speech, 'tis saidbuntil there are scansion problems, when up pop
anti-idioms like "the look upon your face" and "you were never fond of
anything I said." You said it, buster. B MINUS
I wasn't worried about Yorn selling Liz out until now. He won't make her
sound like Britney, he'll make her sound like Linda Rondstat or the
Eagles-70s style 'el-lay' rock. Which makes me sick thinking about it. I can
only hope he makes her sound like Bonnie Raitt, the best of the 'el-lay' 70s
rockers, but that would be too hard.
Michael Penn, on the other hand, will make her sound like herself, he's the
last person to make her sell out. I'm glad she's working with him.

Ya I've heard about the new stuff for the "VerucaSaltIV" album - it sounds 
fucking great. I guess Gina and Louise recorded like 6 new songs this month 
alone and Louise seems happier than ever with the way the band is going.
On her website - she describes the band "BASTARD" with Courtney Love by 
simply saying:
"I don't know what that was - but I'm glad I'm back to making VS songs..."
so it looks like things couldn't have been that pretty..but dammit, I would 
have LOVED to see an album with Louise and Courtney and Gina and 
Patty..that could have been soo cool... but shit - as always, I gotta side 
with Louise - I think she's just tooo cool beyond words - and the fact that 
she says Liz coulda said it better only backs that up :) :)
Hope the song makes the album :)
Who'd have ever thought Veruca would have ANOTHER new album out before 
Liz??? yikes...

Does anyone know where i can find any Lone Justice live recordings??  I
can't find any info on the web about this (defunct) band.  Does anyone
have any they'd be willing to trade w/ me?  I've only heard a few of their
live recordings and i am stunned.  actually, if you have any live Maria
Mckee, I'd be interested in that too...I've got some fun stuff i could
trade.

sorry, i don't have anything liz to talk about :P   But i was introduced
to ms mckee via all the raves on this list, so i thought this an
appropriate forum ;)
