LouisePost.com claims that: Louise Post has made the decision to quit "Bastard," the band she had been practicing with alongside Courtney Love and Patty Schemel. The decision to leave was entirely Louise's, and don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise. Right now, Louise's musical focus is purely on her baby: Veruca Salt. Louise and Gina Crosely, Veruca Salt's bass guitarist, have written a number of songs for Veruca Salt IV, the new record which is tentatively pencilled in for a summer 2002 release. Among the songs you may (or may not) see on the new record... - - "Hang On Forever" - - "Liz Phair Would / Could Have Said It Better" - -------------- I hope it gets on the album. Yum. It copied in pink so now I'm writing in pink. I hope it doesn't screw any of your screens. She had mentioned in one thread that her and Eric were not speaking; later that lead to another thread that she did not participate in, where someone asked why they no longer talk. We never found out exactly why, but someone did post about a book they had read by Everett True entitled _Live Through This: American Rock Music in the Nineties_. True has been a huge supporter of Hole in the past and was responsible for much of the buzz surrounding the band in the UK upon the release of _Pretty on the Inside_. Apparently he is still in contact with both Eric and Courtney, and included e-mails he had received from each of them within the past year. The impression that was given in the book is that Courtney is almost completely estranged from Eric now. And you do have to wonder. The Bastard project was supposed to be a female-only one, so Eric's exclusion makes sense. But at the two recent shows Courtney played -- where both performances weren't billed as Bastard, but as Courtney solo shows -- why did she turn to outside musicians to play with her and Patty, instead of getting Eric? She hired two guitarists for those gigs; both were outside musicians she hadn't played with previously. I think music still is indeed Courtney's day job, but it seems increasingly unlikely there will be another Hole record. It doesn't seem right, though, for them to end like this. _Celebrity Skin_, to me, doesn't seem like the type of record you'd end an era with. I am quite excited to hear Courtney's new songs, though. She posted some of the lyrics to "All the Drugs" and "But Julian, I'm a Little Older Than You" to the message board recently. Both songs were played at the show where she opened for Jane's Addiction, and I have a copy of her set on the way to me. At the previous night's warm-up gig, she also debuted a couple of other new songs: "Hold on to Me" and "Life Despite God." It seems like she's working towards writing enough songs for a new record.
