Subject: Chicago Concerts This is a little bit off topic here, but as Liz is my #1 music choice, Lucky Boys Confusion is my #2. They are playing in Chicago next weekend and I am going to get to see them. Has anyone seen them in concert before, and if so...what kind of show do they put on? Is anyone else on the list planning on going to this concert? Waiting for the day when I can say that I'm going to see Liz in concert..... I'm not sure if Liz modelled all the clothes at once or if she has a recurring modelling gig. By the way, I have added three new p.45 pictures to the image gallery along with three other ones. Liz's songwriting while not always what it was on exile is not something that needs to be "fixed," especially not by some pop-hack. Hopefully, though, she may realize that herself. I would think the turmoil in her personal life would provide more than enough help in writing songs. "Down" is a promising beginning. Mess with the Producing ok (though even there brad wood seems made for her), but leave her writing to liz. Subject: [none] "why the hell is no one angry that Liz is cowriting with some idiot? Natalie Im-fucking-bruglia? I feel very badly for Liz in that Capitol doesn't feel strongly enough about her own genius style. She should be writing on her own damn songs. Lyrically and melodically, "Down" is brilliant. It gave me hope that her new album would actually be something to look forward to. Now I fear that it will be just some Sheryl Crow-esque crap. At least if it sucks, she'll realize her mistakes and make an even better album in response. I wonder when that ould come out, 2015 maybe? -Dan" Dan, you sound a little angry. Liz is brilliant and I have faith that no matter what she does, it will be brilliant as well. Come on, it's Liz! Has she ever failed you before? First off - his resume of past work is frightening: >GARY CLARK is currently writing with LIZ PHAIR for her >new album and recently produced NATALIE IMBRUGLIA for >RCA. Gary just completed producing NICOLA CHARLES for >Mushroom Records and has written a song for VITAMIN C. VITAMIN C???!?! She is the ultimate symbol of all good things gone bad in the music biz. And Natalie Imbruglia!! Good god..I don't know, I have faith in Liz - and I am hoping Gary Clark will only do a song or two..it might turn out okay - if it's kind of a "What makes you happy" kind of song..but otherwise...good god, i'm terrified! The guy worked with KD Lang, who I don't mind - but shit..I'm kind of freaking out over this - I don't understand why Liz just doesn't write all her own songs..I know she could do it - fuck - she could make a GREAT album out of unused Girlysound songs, at worst. I don't know...it would be a sad, sad day if she puts out some kind of generic "girl singer" record. That would by far be the most disgusting scenario I could think of - actually HATING a Liz record...christ. As far as people talking about Jon Brion - I really like him, but I couldn't see him with Liz...he just seems to have SUCH a distinct sound - I don't know..I agree with whoever said that his sound would pollute Liz's sound. I could totally see that happening. I know Matador was a sticky situation and all - but fuck - I don't give a shit - i think they're a cool company and maybe Liz didn't get all the exposure she deserved from them, but fuck - they gave her 2 1/2 gold records and put her on the map as far as I'm concerned...it would suck if Liz's album was a disaster just because of something called Capitol Records. But hey - it might very well be the BEST Liz album ever..we don't know...I'm gonna reserve judgement and just pray it fucking comes out before we all blow ourselves to pieces. This is frightening indeed. By allowing male record producers to effectively make her next album, she would be betraying what she stood for with Exile In Guyville. That would be a disgusting scene. What if she is catapulted into commercial stardom? Good for her, good for Nicholas, bad for us. Her and Britney on the 2002 Video Music Awards... I can see it now.
