I happened across a page on the internet about her, and listened to the tracks and damnit, I got hooked. Her voice reminds me a lot of Liz Pickguard of Lizband, in some ways. I got hooked when I heard "Story Of Your Bones". Just thought I might mention it to those who might want to check it out. - -michael ================================ "...Of course I was always visually stunning." -Liz Renay ================================ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 12:21:29 EDT From: RbSayre@aol.com Subject: Re: OT: Jennifer Nettles In a message dated 10/26/01 4:21:35 AM Eastern Daylight Time, mhonaker@charter.net writes: > Just wondering if anyone has heard Jennifer > Nettles yet... She's a musician out of Athens, GA who used to be part of a duo called Soul Miner's Daughter. It was basically her and another singer/songwriter named Cory Jones. They got a lot of buzz/praise in Athens & Atlanta, I think they were poised as the next big thing to come out of Georgia. Anyway, they broke up after recording 2 albums, "The Sacred & Profane" and "Hallelujah"- it was pretty messy too, apparently- and she struck out with their backing band on their own, making an album that is probably one of the best I've heard all year. If you ever have a chance to see the Jennifer Nettles Band live, GO!! They've got an incredible energy when they play & she is the most charismatic performer I've ever seen play. Apparently she's releasing a new album AND a live album soon!! can you tell i'm enthusiastic about her?? rick "I know we're all psychotic, single and completely dysfunctional and it's all done over the phone, but it's a bit like a family, isn't it?" - -Tom, Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding let's face it kids...my webpage! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 14:15:29 -0400 From: Dan MacDonald Subject: Tanya Donelly/Liz revival!! That BREATHE article was great...i loved the part that said "Phair..returning to the spotlight after 3 years..." or whatever... haha sooo cool. I'm soo glad she's coming back, doing stuff - performing - and is looking FORWARD to performing for the next album... she seems enthusiastic about it again, so i guess that's a good thing. I just got an advance copy of Tanya Donelly's new EP Sleepwalk - and it is FANTASTIC to say the least. I didn't get a cover - don't ask why - but OH GOD!! Anyone who loves the Tanya voice...is just going to go NUTS for this one. She uses her voice more than i have EVER heard..like - all the ranges of it - - the SWEET SWEET high thing she does - and even kind of low...it's fantastic - i'll leave it at that. But all the stuff that makes Tanya great - - is sooo utilized..it's the ultimate in Tanya songs!! Her new full album is coming Feb..can't WAIT for that - this is such a sweet teaser, it's not even funny... anyway, I'm all hyped for the new Michael Jackson..hehe just kidding. You know, new releases were a let down this year. I would have to say , my favorite new release this year was AIR - 10,000 hz Legend - pure brilliance - although Tanya's record is pretty sweet too... but other than that - i mean, there were lots of big names, Tori Amos, Weezer, missy Elliot, Garbage, Cranberries - they were all..like, fun and cool..but nothing grabbed me as fantastic..been listening to lots of older music this year...sux. and Le Tigre - fuck man - i'm so sick of their new album already. It is old as shit - Kathleen Hanna needs to go back to Bikini Kill - because the music on the new Le Tigre is about as deep and layered as a Britney Spears song - it's just noisier. Each song leaves me with a feeling of "Okay...so where is the rest of it?" or "When does the song REALLY start.." and then - the next song is starting and I'm like "Oh..that was it." Talk about "THE THE EMPTY" - christ. at any rate, Liz is still the light at the end of the tunnel for me... Dan. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 16:32:21 -0400 From: "John A.
