The title of the fourth song Liz contributed to the film is "Faded" (described to me as a "fast-paced rocker"). To recap, the four songs that Liz contributed to the film are: 1) Uncle Alvarez 2) Appletree 3) She's Gone 4) Faded As for the song "Down", apparently it will appear on Liz's fourth album. - -Ken kenmlee@ix.netcom.com MeSmErIzInG - AnOtHeR LiZ PhAiR WeBsItE http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2001 23:36:36 -0700 From: Nick Nelson Subject: Liz at benefit I read a review of the concert Liz was supposed to be at (the breast cancer benefit) in the L.A. I guess I haven't been keeping track of things very well lately; I thought it wasn't for another couple of weeks. Does anyone know if Liz actually performed, or if she bailed on appearing? You'd think we would have heard more by now if she'd been there. If anyone did go and if Liz did perform, did she do any new material? Does anyone have a setlist or, better yet, a recording of the show? It is the one scheduled for this friday on lifetime. The show should be worth watching. here is a blurb on it. Women Rock! Girls & Guitars 09:00PM-11:00PM Friday Oct 26 A concert in Los Angeles raises money in the fight against breast cancer; with Mary J. Bilge, Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Pat Benatar. Indeed, the Breathe benefit with Liz Phair benefit doesn't take place until Sat October 27. robert (now wondering: do they hold benefits for colon cancer?) - --- Nick Nelson wrote: > I read a review of the concert Liz was supposed to > be at (the breast cancer > benefit) in the L.A. I've been asked to DJ a Halloween Dance that my university is having this Friday. No spinnin' or anything fancy like that, just little ol' me playin' dance songs. When I was first asked to do this, I thought, "Wow, like middle school all over again"...and then I agreed wholeheartedly. :) So the question I pose to you peeps is: Got any ideas for songs that will make this baby HOT? I'm really puttin' a lot of time and effort into making up a kickass playlist and I know just off the top of your heads, many of you can come up with quality dance songs that everybody will know and that everybody can shake their groove thang to. Plus, I'm primarily an indie rockish kind of girl and I never listen to the (non-college) radio anymore. So as you may have gathered, the criteria I am holding most important in selecting songs is a) People gotta know it, so the more mainstream side of things comes to mind and b) People hafta be able to DANCE to it!! And then of course, the crowd's gonna be a bunch of college kids. Please e-mail me privately at luujk@jmu.edu with any ideas and thanks a lot in advance for any amount of time any of you guys put into this. - -Jennifer ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Oct 2001 20:58:02 -0700 From: Kenneth Lee Subject: Pete Yorn on working with Liz Phair Hi again, I came across this interview with Pete Yorn where he talks about recording with Liz: Q: It's been reported that you and Liz Phair are collaborating to write some new songs for her upcoming album. How did this come about? A: She was just looking for a place to record some stuff and she really liked what I did with Walt Vincent and Brad Wood, whom she worked with before and they're really close. She came down and Walt called and said, "Dude, get your ass down here. You're going to play on these demos." So I helped write out some of her new songs and played drums and guitar on a bunch of them and that was it. They're really good songs, some of the best I've heard since "Exile in Guyville".
