Let these war drums be silent... Oh, Lord, if ever it happens that I should be killed by a fighter (soldier, terrorist, or whatever), no matter if his cause is right or not, Please make sure, oh my Lord, that over the ruins where I am engraved, your angels sing songs of hope, and that their voice is loud enough, so that my brother, asking for revenge, will not be heard. ______________________________________________________ Bonte aux lettres - Caramail - http://www.caramail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2001 10:41:44 -0400 From: Dan MacDonald Subject: america striking back I'm afraid of what will happen when America strikes back. When US bombed the living fuck out of Hiroshima - it was different. They were very much saying "Don't fuck with us.." but at the same time - Hiroshima couldn't really fuck back that much, because they were such a small and somewhat crippled country to begin with. But shit changes - nations have developed a hell of a lot more since then. If US bombs another "small country" over this - it is inevitable that there WILL be a strike back on Americans - with just as big a bomb, or germ warfare, god knows what else - and that will probably mean death for about double or triple - or who knows how many more Americans, and possibly others. US wants to stand strong. I know this sounds stupid - and I really know nothing about politics, and I'm not even American - but I think - if America wants to do the right thing, and do the right thing that is best for both the country and its image, they should NOT bomb anyone over this. They should take all that energy and money - and tighten the FUCK out of security and customs so it never happens again - THAT is how America will look like they are the better country. They should not take "revenge" against the terrorists by acting like terrorists. They should prove to the world OTHER ways - that it happened once because they MIGHT have had their guard down - but it will NEVER happen again. There should be more to life than "You hit me - now I hit you..." Anyway, Tanya Donelly album was pushed back to January I see... They all saw the news, and had friends and family members who were there or who they knew had died. yet they did not act out, cry or become emotional. this is helping me get through my "normal" day. i just know that my purpose is to teach these kids to be tolerant and love and appreciate everything they have in life- even though these kids live in poverty, crime, drugs, etc. i didn't want to write a novel here- but living here and seeing somewhat first hand what is going on has brought on more emotions then i knew i was capable of having! i went to a beautiful vigil last night in union square. our generation is feeling this more then anyone- our lives are changed forever. thank you for all the support and kind words and thoughts. tell everyone in your life you love them and give out as many hugs as you can :) it helps. Lani ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2001 10:19:02 -0700 From: "Dana Polachowski" Subject: this is not america oh, there's no way striking out in blind rage will accomplish anything good. we don't need to initiate bombing raids--no, what *i* think we need to do is somehow bust up this worldwide ring. haul in any and all suspected terrorists of any stripe. keep 'em so they can't get in contact with each other. they've been protected by laws, civil rights laws, for far too long. i'm glad to know that they have even publicly acknowledged that interpol is working the case. that's exactly what needs to be done. because there's no way they don't know the whereabouts of many of these people or who to go to to find them. i live in san diego and my worst fears were just confirned yesterday--that some of these people lived here. which to me means that there could be more here waiting to board and then commandeer another flight at some time in the future. it's just creepy. also, i got an email that someone pulled off of MSNBC (sorry, i don't know the link) that will put this whole thing in perspective much better. it goes into how the CIA, in the '80s, trained bin Laden to bring down a superpower. they were trying to aid him and his forces in defeating the former Soviet Union. when the CIA was satisfied that the U.S.S.R. was crumbling from within and on the road to its downfall, they pulled out of afghanistan and left bin Laden and his followers fully armed and trained. and there are still those around instrumental in organizing and implementing this plan: orrin hatch and george bush sr. they gave bin Laden guns, ammo, and training in biological warfare. also, during the '80s, many went ahead and developed and monitored this arrangement further, keeping this information from then-president reagan. now, i'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt, because that administration was in deep shit with iran-contra and i'm sure he asked his people: "what are we doing over there?" and i'm sure they concealed the truth. so, people have been squawing about our government's invlovements over there for at least 20 years. so, ok, listen, our own government sold it's people out. they fucking sold us out. there are many in washington right now who have much to answer for. that stuff wasn't motivated solely by psychopathology. there are reasons these people feel justified. the everyday citizens of this country have done nothing wrong. but those in government.... it's totally fucked up. i know i don't need to see my congresspeople singing "god bless america" on the steps of the capitol. that does not assuage my anxieties and fears. these people need to get a major clue right now and covert operators in our government need to come clean. because this is not over. let's keep focued and stick together.... love to all, dp ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2001 14:13:29 EDT From: ReallyHip@aol.com Subject: Re: america striking back No matter what happens, there will be more strikes against this country. Whether it be a man with a small bomb strapped to his backpack, or a germ warfare threat. It does not matter how we retaliate, but that we retaliate at all to them. Anyhow, I'm fairly scared, and fairly sure that this is all far from over. - -Michael Gehrig "It's the begginning of a new age" - Tori ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2001 14:17:49 EDT From: ReallyHip@aol.com Subject: Re: this is not america Everyone seems to be forgetting that the retaliation is not even up to us. Germany, Italy, France, Britain, Russia, China, and many other nations are prepared to strike with or without us. After all, this is not a war against America, but a war against civilization as it stands, and every nation that doesn't live in a tent is going to fight to protect that. With or without us. So, for all of you that think we can avoid this... even if we dont strike back, they will still target us and the rest of the world as a whole. There is no way to avoid it... as horrible as that is. - -Michael "not the red baron, not charlie brown, not anyone i really know, just another pilot down" - tori ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2001 18:20:22 From: "Katie Brown" Subject: Lani's okay! lani's okay... her email is not working... thanks for the good vibes. *sigh* i've been sobbing all week and had a major breakdown in class the other night. i keep finding about more people from college and even HS who are gone. (????) the people in washington involved in these dirty dealings, and who still have anything to say about what happens next, would be more than happy to send all those who just enlisted to "serve their country" to their possible death and destruction. all to wash their own hands and save their own asses.... and, of course, this has happened before in the name of "democracy." i feel that somehow it will indeed be up to many of us everyday citizens to work to solve this problem, but it *can* be effectively dealt with more "cleanly" than through bombing raids etc. and as michael mentioned, if/when other nations who have a stake in taking bin laden and his followers out DO initiate military strikes, the US in the show. period. so, there's that to think about. also, michael emailed me personally as well, and i responded and included this fact in my response: they are showing the moment of the attack on the news over and over and over again. i mean, how many times have we seen this now?? now listen: repeated and consistent "suggestion" is a proven and well-established technique used in hynotherapy. discuss. bye for now, dp ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V4 #235 ************************************
