["Dana Polachowski" Subject: "and i must have something better to do...." re: the move to SF for all those chicagoans... the urge to get the fuck out of the midwest is pretty strong in some people--and i was one of them. i graduated college and knew if i faced one more wisconsin winter i would indeed kill myself. so i got in my car and drove for three days. one of my favorite things is to call my family on christmas and say, "it's seventy degrees; i've got my windows open...." to "get out," you gotta go east or west. so, NYC/boston/DC or LA/SF/SanD. those are your choices. for those who go west, SF usually wins out over the other two, 'specially for artsy-hipster types from good homes who are "in the know," because otherwise you gotta deal with the whole "socal" scene--which i, frankly, don't mind (because not *everyone* is "like that" and if they are, so what?). SF is 'sposed to be hipper and cooler, but you don't know what a bonehead move you pulled 'til you go to write your rent check. ooops.... anyways, there's both dufuses and cool people wherever you go, so..... and i dunno, maybe the move to NYC is too cliche at this point...?? anyway, that was an interesting post.... thanks mike! ok, goin' to go look at a big naked guy named "david"--who can't run away no matter what. know which one i mean?? luv, dp ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V4 #229 ************************************
