Nope, sorry, Dan, but Jase is right. It is 100% fake. She isn't playing a note. M'friend Phil was in the studio where the backing tracks for the whole Madonna tour were mastered. That entire show is flown in on tape, including a double track for her vocals. God love her, it's obvious Liz doesn's use any electronic trickery live! The Tonight Show tape is certain proof of that! Courtney and Madonna have been known to talk shit about one another.<< yeah, but courtney has posted some really messed up and ignorant stuff on that board. after reading her posts, i would never trust anything that comes out of her mouth. her posts read like an manic 8th grader. did you see the one about going through pj harvey's luggage? weird stuff. and she's always slagging on women in music, which i think is just sad. so yeah...i doubt madonna would do prerecorded stuff these days. i think she's trying to prove herself as a musician...but i just wanna be like...honey...you're MADONNA. you don't have to prove shit! :) have fun in greece, andrea--wow! :) on a liz related note...tried to put up my Whip Smart poster in my new house...it kept falling off because it's so long and i was using cheap tape :( remember when liz appeared on the cover of pulse a couple years ago w/ crimped hair and glossy makeup? i found that and put it on my wall too. such a funny but cute photo. Liz' music is (was?) right up there for me, and I've been around since Rolling Stone Mag started business..She was on the cover once, remember? All the crystal-ball gazing aside, I wonder whether true fans like Jason, are missing the point about the "no-new-music syndrome"..Is it really the record company? Is it the production team? Is it Liz holding back, creating artificial demand? The thing of it is there IS new music! We just aren't hearing it! Why? I am hearing some anger..This is a loyal group of people here who have been reduced to among other things, analyzing every word and phrase in every LP song, over and over..Or, finding replacement artists for Liz (there aren't any).. Or, just rambling, like me..It's really too bad when we start comparing um, Madonna's guitar playing (?) to a real artist like Liz playing the guitar to songs she wrote, often produced, and then fully performed on her own! What's wrong with all this? For me, I need to realize 1) "Exile" was a oncer..a wonderful record by a young, excited artist; 2) it opened doors to many female performers who owe much to Liz 3) subsequent albums were great and showed a certain evolution towards, what? popularity? commercialism? airplay? and 4) maybe Liz, now enjoying the golden sunshine, warmth, and bohemian beach-like LA culture, suits herself to be where she is, right now.. I suggest more than patience for her..She will play again..I hear I might see her at a Breast Cancer Benefit in LA in October..and we all have to deal with that..
