Will it be "DOWN"?? or is "Down" something new for Liz entirely? Which leads me to the question... there are 4 liz songs floating around somewhere..they are going to be on a soundtrack...who/what/where/when/why? PS - I'm gonna go check out PEACHES at Magic Stick or Magic Bag wherever it is in August..should be a lovely, dirty, filthy show..if anyone isn't familiar with her - take the lyrics of Lil'Kim - add some punky-girl rap vocals and play a Bossa Nova beat on a small Casio Keyboard...that's it. She's got some cool guitary songs too...she's pretty fun, and I hear she puts on a mean visual feast for a show...could be fun.. Steve, ya going? talk to me soon, Dan. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 05 Jul 2001 01:09:42 -0500 From: Aaron Walker Subject: Re: support-system-digest V4 #172 I've added the lyrics to Down to my site and posted a link to the video (although I'm sure everyone reading this has already seen the video.) There's one line in the song "I know you know her around by the way she's so familiar" that reminds me of the movie The Tall Guy. In that film, one of the characters realizes that her lover is cheating on her because of how another woman just accepts a drink from her lover without saying thank you, because they're so familiar. Just a random thought. - -- - -Aaron Walker http://www.visi.com/~lazlo/liz/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Jul 2001 02:21:14 -0400 From: "shimmer shimmer like a trent should" Subject: Re: mounting suspense The Teaches of Peaches! The movie's supposed to be coming out in the fall, so I imagine we can expect the soundtrack around the same time. From what I understand, the soundtrack will be released by Koch Records, not Capitol. It's already July, so hopefully we should know more soon. >PS - I'm gonna go check out PEACHES at Magic Stick or Magic Bag wherever >it is in August..should be a lovely, dirty, filthy show..if anyone isn't >familiar with her - take the lyrics of Lil'Kim - add some punky-girl rap >vocals and play a Bossa Nova beat on a small Casio Keyboard...that's it. >She's got some cool guitary songs too...she's pretty fun, and I hear she >puts on a mean visual feast for a show...could be fun.. I saw Peaches when she opened for Elastica in Toronto last year. I think it's safe to say that I have never seen a performance anything like hers before or since. It seemed like the crowd had no idea what to make of her, which isn't surprising -- you can't tell whether her act is completely serious or ironic. "...all the time you were telling me you loved me, you've been sleeping around and the shame of it hangs above me like a cloud..." Sounds autobiographical to me... After not being able to d/l it at work, I talked a friend (a closet Liz fan) into d/l it for me. Her reaction was that it was 'sort of slow and depressing'. I must admit that it did seem a little slow and down but catchy. And it didn't really seem 'professional'. I mean it seemed a bit amateurish the way it was shot, but then again a 2inch window on a 56k connection may be the culprit. However, it has (and is) re-generated my interest in Liz (and the list does seem to be buzzing about it - good thing!). Let's hope the new album comes out before the end of the year. from the land of lightning strikes and alligator attacks...
