More annoying, I think, was the distinction between Liz's set & the Lounge Lizards' that my digital cable provider made in their description of the show: Liz "sings" her songs, while John Lurie & the Lounge Lizards "perform." Splitting hairs, I know. It just bothers me that people are always so dismissive of Liz, like she's just some dumb pop star who simply "sings." This happens more often than you'd think. re: the whip-smart cover art -- does anyone have a theory regarding Liz's decision to use that? In the early days, every visual thing Liz did had meaning -- her videos, her album art, etc. However, she's never discussed why she chose to use a Russian propaganda poster for the cover art. I'm certain there's a reason behind it, but I'll be damned if I can figure it out. It's kind of like that Joys & Sorrows of Andalusia stuff on Exile in Guyville's inner sleeve. She came close to explaining that a long time ago, but never followed through. Lastly, I spent an hour yesterday making up a nice, accurate tab for 6'1" that someone asked me for. Is anyone else interested in it? I could just send it to whoever asks, but if there's enough demand, maybe I could be *really* obnoxious and just post it to the list.
